Good Counsel GAA
Good Counsel GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Dublin, Ireland. The club is based in Drimnagh in the south of Dublin. History The club was formed in 1954. The club's most famous player was Kevin Moran. The club fields teams in Gaelic football, hurling and camogie to represent the South Dublin parish of Drimnagh. The club, known locally as 'Counsel', is one of the biggest sporting clubs in the area, with approximately 800 members. There are boys and girls teams which play hurling, football and camogie from nursery up to minor level. The club is represented at intermediate hurling, senior camogie and at intermediate football level with junior teams in football, and camogie. In March 2016, the club merged with Liffey Gaels of nearby Ballyfermot for their 2016 Junior B Hurling Campaign and would be competing as Counsel Gaels. Drimnagh
Drimnagh () is a suburb in Dublin, Ireland. It lies to the south of the city between Walkinstown, Crumlin and Inchicore, bordered by the Grand Canal to the north and east. Drimnagh is in postal district Dublin 12. Drimnagh is in a townland and civil parish of the same name, in the barony of Uppercross. History Early to medieval Drimnagh derives its name from the word ''druimneach'', or country with ridges. A Neolithic settlement discovered and a funerary bowl found in a burial site. The site was demolished, but the bowl is on view in the National Museum. The lands of Drimnagh were taken from their Irish owners by Richard de Clare, 2nd Earl of Pembroke (Strongbow), who gave them to the Barnwell family, who had arrived in Ireland with Strongbow in 1167 and had settled in Berehaven in Munster. Kevin Moran (footballer)
Kevin Bernard Moran (born 29 April 1956) is an Irish former footballer who excelled at the top levels in two codes: Gaelic and the association brand. In the sport of hurling his earliest appearance in Croke Park saw him and his team mates from CBS James Street lift the Fianna Fail Hurling Cup in 1967/68. Those early days set the seeds for his future success in Gaelic Football on the great Dubs team of the late 70s. Dublin county team, winning two All-Ireland Senior Football Championships with them, and in association football for his career with Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United and Ireland. Liffey Gaels GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in based in the Inchicore and Ballyfermot areas of Dublin. History The club was founded in 1951 and was known as Rialto Gaels at that time. In the 1970s and 1980s the name was changed to "SS Michaels & James" as St Michael's CBS & St James's CBS were the two schools which most of the club members originated from. History In March 2016, Liffey Gaels announced that they would be merging with Good Counsel for their upcoming Junior B Hurling Campaign. Lucan Sarsfields ( Irish: ''Sáirséalaigh Leamhcáin'' ) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Lucan, Dublin, Ireland. Founded in 1886, Sarsfields were one of 16 teams which contested the Dublin Senior Championship in 1887. They were also involved in the Senior Championship of 1892, and the club has fielded Gaelic football, hurling and camogie teams ever since. The story goes that in 1902 a team call Balbriggan Wanderers won the Intermediate League and then for some reason or other went out of existence in 1904.
