Gonzalo Echenique
Gonzalo Óscar Echenique Saglietti (born 27 April 1990) is an Argentina born Italian professional water polo player. He was part of the Spanish team at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where the team finished in seventh place. He became World champion as a member of the Italian team at the 18th FINA World Aquatics Championships, held in Gwangju, Korea in 2019. The men's tournament of Water polo at the 2016 Summer Olympics at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, began on 6 August and ended on 20 August 2016. Games were held at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre and the Olympic Aquatics Stadium. Serbia won the gold medal by defeating Croatia in the final. Bronze was won by Italy after beating Montenegro. Coppa Italia (men's Water Polo)
The men's Coppa Italia is the water polo domestic Cup of Italy. The trophy is organized by Italian Swimming Federation, FIN and reserved to Serie A1 (water polo), Serie A1 teams. The first edition took place in 1970 and the most successful club is Pro Recco, winner of the competition for 16 times. History and format The first edition of the trophy was held in 1970 and was won by Canottieri Napoli. Later, Coppa Italia was held discontinuously except for a nine-years streak of back-to-back seasons between 1984–85 and 1992–93. The trophy was resumed regularly starting from 2004–05 season. The LEN Super Cup is an annual water polo match organized by LEN and contested by the reigning champions of the two European club competitions, the LEN Champions League and the LEN Euro Cup. The Spanish water polo championship has been contested since 1912. The current league format was introduced in 1965. The top division is currently known as the División de Honor and consists of twelve clubs. The current champions (2021–22 season) are CN Atlètic-Barceloneta from Barcelona. Competition Format The División de Honor season takes place between October and May, with every team playing each other home and away for a total of 22 matches.
