Anatoliy Mikhaylovich Golitsyn Order of the British Empire, CBE (Russian language, Russian: Анатолий Михайлович Голицын; 25 August 1926 – 29 December 2008) was a Soviet KGB defector and author of two books about the long-term deception strategy of the KGB leadership. He was born in Pyriatyn, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union. He provided "a wide range of intelligence to the CIA on the active measures, operations of most of the 'Lines' (departments) at the Helsinki and other residencies, as well as KGB methods of recruiting and running agents." Prince Dmitry Vladimirovich Golitsyn (; 29 October 177127 March 1844, Paris) was an Imperial Russian cavalry general prominent during the Napoleonic Wars, statesman and military writer. Biography He was born in the Golitsyn family of Knyaz Vladimir Borisovich Golitsyn (1731–1798) and his wife Natalie Chernyshova, nicknamed ''La Princesse Moustache'', or '' the Queen of Spades'', who was portrayed as a central character in Pushkin's story (and Tchaikovsky's opera) of the same name. She was known as a learned woman, a gambler, a good dancer and served Catherine the Great. His siblings were Boris Vladimirovitch Golitsyn, Ekaterina Vladimirovna Apraksina and Sophie Stroganov. In 1774 Golitsyn was enrolled in the Leib Guard Preobrazhensky regiment and received his first rank of sergeant in 1777. He continued his education in Strasbourg in 1782. Georgy Sergeyevich Golitsyn () (born January 23, 1935, in Moscow) is a Russian scientist in the field of Atmospheric Physics, full member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (later of Russia) since 1987, Editor-in-Chief of Izvestiya, Atmospheric and Oceanic Physics,, member of the Academia Europaea since 2000. He is a member of the princely house of Golitsyn. His father is the Russian writer Sergei Mikhailovich Golitsyn. In the 1960s studied atmospheric circulation on other planets. In 1969 he predicted the small difference between nighttime and daytime temperature on Venus and its high wind velocities. He also developed a model for study of dust storms on Mars. He was also able to show that severe forest fires in Siberia in 1915 had caused global cooling. Golitsyn is regarded by some in Russia as the author of the nuclear winter theory, which was also developed by Vladimir Alexandrov and G.I.Stenchikov and by the authors of the so-called TTAPS study. Prince Nikolai Dmitriyevich Golitsyn (; 12 April 1850 – 2 July 1925) was a Russian aristocrat, monarchist and the last prime minister of the Russian Empire. He was in office from 29 December 1916 ( O.S.) or 9 January 1917 ( N.S.) until his government resigned after the outbreak of the February Revolution. Biography Golitsyn was born in Porechye, a village in the Moscow Governorate near Mozhaisk, into the noble Golitsyn family. His father was Dmitry Borisovich Golitsyn (1803–1864) who came from Bolshiye Vyazyomy, the family estate. Nikolai passed his childhood in the Dorogobuzhsky District. He graduated from the Imperial Alexander Lyceum in 1871 and entered the Ministry of the Interior, where he was appointed to the Łomża Governorate (Congress Poland). Sergei Mikhailovich Golitsyn (; – 7 November 1989) was a Russian writer. Biography Golitsyn was born on 14 March 1909 at an estate in the Tula guberniya. His father was prince Mikhail Vladimirovich Golitsyn (1873–1942), a member of the powerful Russian Golitsyn (or Galitzine) family, and his mother was Anna Sergeyevna (; 1880–1972). He had also five sisters and one brother. During the repressions of the 1920s and 1930s, a large number of his relatives were targeted. At various times were arrested (and later killed) his grandfather, V.M. Galitsyn, his father, his older brother Vladimir, one brother-in-law and numerous cousins. Later he recalled these years in his ''Memoirs of a Survivor: The Golitsyn Family in Stalin's Russia'', an account of how revolution dramatically transformed life for one of Russia's elite families. Golitsyn (crater)
Golitsyn is a lunar impact crater that lies beyond the western limb on the far side of the Moon. It is located in the southwestern portion of the Montes Rook mountain range that forms one of the rings around the Mare Orientale impact site. The crater is situated in the midst of rugged, irregular terrain that contains only a handful of other significant craters. The rim of Golitsyn is circular but irregular, and a smaller crater lies across the north-northwestern rim. The edge of the rim is sharp, and the material along narrow inner wall has slumped down to form mounds along the base. The interior floor has no impacts or features of note.
