Goldnigga
''Gold Nigga'' is the first studio album by the New Power Generation. It was only made available for sale at some concert venue merchandise stalls on tour in 1993, through Prince's 1-800-NEW-FUNK telephone retail outlet, and at Paisley Park during the 2001 Celebration. It was also sold in Prince's own, now defunct, retail outlets. It has long been out of print, thus copies are very scarce and can fetch high prices second-hand. Background The album presents hip hop in the setting of a live band. Vocalist Tony M. raps on most of the songs and a variety of segues throughout the album provide a humorous storyline about the recording of the album, as well as Tony M.'s sexual exploits. Many of the themes are about racism and other ills in the Black community. Prince plays a background role in the album, though he sings in character on the songs "Black M.F. Exodus (New Power Generation Album)
''Exodus'' is the second studio album by the New Power Generation. Although the track listing boasts 21 tracks, many of them are narrative segues, leaving only nine actual songs. Of those, one is an instrumental. The album spawned three singles, though only one ("The Good Life") was released in the United States. Album concept significance The album's title was seen as mysterious by most people, due to Prince's quirks and unusual behavior in various interviews given during promotion of the album. NPG Records is a record label that was owned by Prince (musician), Prince and run by Trevor Guy. "NPG" is short for New Power Generation. It was founded to release his music after Paisley Park Records was shut down by Warner Bros. Records in 1994. Though the 1994 compilation ''1-800-NEW-FUNK'' featured several artists, NPG Records never developed into a full label like Paisley Park did; instead, it exclusively released Prince's albums or side-projects. "Money Don't Matter 2 Night" is a song by American musician Prince and the New Power Generation from their 1991 album, ''Diamonds and Pearls''.
