Youngberg, Arizona
Youngberg is a Unincorporated area, populated place situated in Pinal County, Arizona, Pinal County, Arizona, United States. History Originally called Goldfield due to the nearby gold mines, The Goldfield Post Office was established on October 7, 1893, with James L Patterson as its first Postmaster.Granger, Byrd H., Arizona's Names (X Marks the Place). He died from apparent apoplexy on November 26, 1926, at his vacation home near the Highland Park, Yavapai County, Arizona, Derby Mine. David Goldfield
David R. Goldfield is an American historian, writer, film director, and professor. He is a long-time supporter of the Democratic Party. He is the author of sixteen books, including ''Black, White, and Southern: Race Relations and Southern Culture'' and ''Cotton Fields and Skyscrapers''. Both of these books were nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. Currently, he is the Robert Lee Bailey Professor of History at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. Education Goldfield is originally from Memphis, Tennessee, but grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He attended the University of Maryland, and earned his PhD in 1970. Career Goldfield has held his current position as Robert Lee Bailey Professor of History since 1982. Goldfields is a computer game for children which simulates 'life on the diggings' during a 19th-century gold rush. Beginning with a concept by Trevor Jacob, it was developed and published by Jacaranda Software in Australia in 1986. It was first released for Apple II, BBC Micro, Commodore 64 and IBM compatible systems. The first Macintosh version was later developed using Hypercard. The original ''Goldfields'' package contained a disk, teacher's guide, four black-line masters and a copy of ''A Goldfields Journal'' or ''A Guide to Prospective Gold Seekers''. A review in ''Australian Educational Computing'' magazine described it as 'a particularly useful package, adaptable to a number of levels in both upper primary and secondary social science classes.' Goldfields Raceway
Phakisa Freeway is a motor racing circuit located between Welkom and Odendaalsrus, South Africa. It is one of the few oval speedways outside of the United States and the only one in Africa. History Phakisa Freeway was built on the same site as the former Goldfields Raceway, which closed in 1997. The current track opened in 1999. It consists of a road course and a oval course. The road course uses the oval's pit lane as its backstraight and crosses the oval's backstretch on two times. The oval track is similar to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in its 1997 configuration: 12 degree banking in the turns, nine degrees on the tri-oval and three degrees on the back stretch. The Ashanti Goldfields Corporation is a gold mining company based in Ghana that was founded by Joseph Ellis and Joseph Biney both from Cape Coast. The Ashanti Mine, located at Obuasi, 56 km south of Kumasi, has been producing since 1897. During the turn of the century 1900, the Ashanti Goldfields Corporation was among the most important gold mining companies listed at the London Stock Exchange. The mine is sited on one of the world's major gold deposits and is one of the ten largest in the world. The California gold rush (1848–1855) began on January 24, 1848, when gold was found by James W. Marshall at Sutter's Mill in Coloma, California. The news of gold brought approximately 300,000 people to California from the rest of the United States and abroad. The sudden influx of gold into the money supply reinvigorated the American economy; the sudden population increase allowed California to grow rapidly into statehood in the Compromise of 1850. The gold rush had severe effects on Native Californians and accelerated the Native American population's decline from disease, starvation, and the California genocide.
