Goldenrods In Fountain County, Indiana
Goldenrod is a common name for many species of flowering plants in the sunflower family, Asteraceae, commonly in reference to the genus ''Solidago''. Several genera, such as ''Euthamia'', were formerly included in a broader concept of the genus ''Solidago''. Some authors treat ''Oligoneuron'', the flat-topped goldenrods, as a separate genus than ''Solidago'', while others consider it a section: ''Solidago'' sect. ''Ptarmicoidei''. Goldenrods can be used as a sustainable method to enrich soil with nitrogen. With an increase of nitrogen levels, there can then be an increase of vegetative growth. Plants known as goldenrods include: *'' Bigelowia'' spp., rayless goldenrods, 2 species native to the Southeastern United States *''Cuniculotinus gramineus'', Panamint rock goldenrod *''Euthamia'' spp., flat-topped goldenrods or grass-leaved goldenrods, 5 species native to North America *''Gundlachia triantha'', Trans-Pecos desert goldenrod *''Lorandersonia microcephala'', small-headed ...

Medranoa Palmeri
''Medranoa'' is a genus of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to northeastern Mexico and Texas. The genus was established in 2004, initially with a single species. It was expanded to five species in 2007, incorporating species formerly placed in ''Xylothamia'', and then in ''Chihuahuana'', ''Neonesomia'', and ''Xylovirgata''. Taxonomy The genus ''Xylothamia'' was first described in 1990 with nine species. Molecular phylogenetic studies subsequently showed that these fell into two clades. Four species, including the type species of ''Xylothamia'', were most closely related to the Caribbean genus '' Gundlachia'', and were transferred to that genus by Lowell E. Urbatsch and Roland P. Roberts in 2004. , Plants of the World Online accepted the transfer, and treated ''Xylothamia'' as a synonym of ''Gundlachia''. Urbatsch and Roberts divided the remaining five species between four genera, ''Neonesomia'' with two species, and ''Chihuahuana'', ''Medranoa'', and ''Xylovirga ...

Section (botany)
In botany, a section () is a taxonomic rank below the genus, but above the species. The subgenus, if present, is higher than the section; and the rank of Series (botany), series, if present, is below the section. Sections may in turn be divided into subsections.Article 4 in Sections are typically used to help organise very large genera, which may have hundreds of species. A botanist wanting to distinguish groups of species may prefer to create a taxon at the rank of section or series to avoid making combinatio nova, new combinations, i.e. many new Binomial nomenclature, binomial names for the species involved.
