Golden Millennium
Golden Millennium was a glam rock revival supergroup formed in 1999 composed of Dean Hsieh, Travis Higdon, Tom Hudson, and Britt Daniel. Overview To commemorate the end of the 2nd millennium, Peek-A-Boo Records released the ''Golden Millennium EP'' on December 31, 1999. Peek-A-Boo labelmates Dean Hsieh (The 1-4-5s, Teen Titans, The Wontons), Travis Higdon (The 1-4-5s, The Kiss Offs, Black Lipstick), Tom Hudson (Silver Scooter), and Britt Daniel (Spoon, Drake Tungsten, Skellington, The Alien Beats) got together in 1999 and formed the '70s glam-inspired supergroup Golden Millennium. T-Rex (band)
T. Rex (originally Tyrannosaurus Rex) were an English rock band formed in London in 1967 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan, who was their leader, frontman and only consistent member. Though initially associated with the psychedelic folk genre, Bolan began to change the band's style towards electric rock in 1969, and shortened their name to T. Rex the following year. This development culminated in 1970 with their first significant hit single "Ride a White Swan", and the group soon became pioneers of the glam rock movement. From 1970 to 1973, T. Gibson Les Paul
The Gibson Les Paul is a solid body electric guitar that was first sold by the Gibson Guitar Corporation in 1952. The guitar was designed by factory manager John Huis and his team with input from and endorsement by guitarist Les Paul. Its typical design features a solid mahogany body with a carved maple top and a single cutaway, a mahogany set-in neck with a rosewood fretboard, two pickups with independent volume and tone controls, and a stoptail bridge, although variants exist. The Les Paul was originally offered with a gold finish and two P-90 pickups. In 1957, humbucking pickups were added, along with sunburst finishes in 1958. The Alien Beats
The Alien Beats is a band created by Britt Daniel. Before creating Spoon, Britt Daniel toyed around with a few musical acts in the Austin area. After his stint with Skellington, fellow KTSB (now KVRX) DJ Brad Shenfeld asked Britt if he would be interested in starting a country/rockabilly band. Britt declined, but then called Brad back a week later and agreed. Britt played bass and Brad played guitar; they both shared vocal duties. They called the band The Alien Beats. During a demo recording session drummer Jim Eno was brought in as a fill-in when the original drummer could not make it. A supergroup is a musical group formed of members who are already successful as solo artists or as members of other successful groups. The term became popular in the late 1960s when members of already successful rock groups Collaborative_album, recorded albums together, after which they normally disbanded. Charity supergroups, in which prominent musicians perform or record together in support of a particular cause, have been common since the 1980s. The term is most common in the context of Rock music, rock and pop music, but it has occasionally been applied to other musical genres.
