The Golan Heights Winery () is an Israeli winery located in the Israeli settlement of Katzrin in the Golan Heights. It is Israel's third largest winery. In 2012, Golan Heights Winery was named ''New World Winery of the Year'' by ''Wine Enthusiast Magazine, Wine Enthusiast'' magazine. History The Golan Heights Winery is jointly owned by eight Israeli settlements—moshavim and kibbutzim, which also supply the grapes. Its first vintage was released in 1984. Production in 2008 reached 6 million bottles a year, 30% of which was exported. The Golan Heights winery markets brands under the Golan, Yarden and Gamla labels and is the parent company of Galilee's Galil Mountain Winery. Golan (; ) is the name of a Hebrew Bible, biblical town later known from the works of Josephus (first century CE) and Eusebius (''Onomasticon'', early 4th century CE). Archaeologists localize the biblical city of Golan at Sahm el-Jaulān, a Syrian village east of Wadi ar-Ruqqad in the Daraa Governorate, where early Byzantine ruins were found. Israeli historical geographer, Zev Vilnay, tentatively identified the town Golan with the Goblana (Gaulan) of the Talmud which he thought to be the ruin ''ej-Jelêbîne'' on the Wâdy Dabûra, near the Hula Valley, Lake of Huleh, by way of a corruption of the site's original name. According to Vilnay, the village took its name from the district Gaulanitis (Golan). The ruin is not far from the Daughters of Jacob Bridge. The traces of the town were described by Gottlieb Schumacher, G. Israeli wine is produced by hundreds of Winery, wineries, ranging in size from small boutique enterprises to large companies producing over ten million bottles per year. Wine has been produced in the Land of Israel since biblical times. Wine was exported to Rome during the Roman period, but under the Early Muslim conquests, Muslim rulers the production was virtually wiped out. Under the Crusaders, winemaking was temporarily revived. Kosher wine () is wine that is produced in accordance with ''halakha'', and more specifically ''kashrut'', such that Jews will be permitted to pronounce blessings over and drink it. Golan Brewery () is a brewery in the Golan Heights Israeli settlement, settlement of Qatzrin. It won the award for Best Israeli Brewery at the competition. History Archeological evidence has indicated that beer was produced in the Golan Heights in ancient times. The Golan Brewery, founded in late 2006 by Naftali Pinchevsky and Haim Ohayon, was established with a mind to reviving the region's ancient tradition. Years earlier Pinchevsky was importing Homebrewing#Homebrewing kits, homebrewing kits to Israel, but he was ahead of his time and the idea did not catch on. He later established Murphy's bars in Herzliya and Modi'in. Annelie Enochson (born 29 October 1953) is a Swedish Christian Democratic politician and architect. She has been a member of the Riksdag since 2000. In the Riksdag, she has been part of the former Committee on Housing (2000–2002), the Committee on the Labour Market and the Committee on European Union Affairs (2002–2006).
