Golam Mustafa (photographer)
Golam Mustafa (30 November 1941 – 9 July 2021) was a Bangladeshi photographer. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2018 and Shilpakala Padak in 2016 in the photography category by the government of Bangladesh. Background Mustafa was born on 30 November 1941 in Kidderpore neighborhood in Calcutta in the then Bengal Presidency, British India. After the 1947 partition of India, his family moved to his paternal grandfather's house in Mirsharai, Chittagong in East Bengal. He then studied in Bar Academy School in Narayanganj and in Jagannath College in Dhaka. Afterward, he got acquainted with the notable photographer Manzoor Alam Beg. Career Mustafa was one of the first few photographers of Bangladesh Television (BTV) when it commenced in 1964. He later served as the director of photography in BTV and retired in 1998. Kidderpore
Khidirpur or Kidderpore is a neighborhood of metropolitan Kolkata (Calcutta), in Kolkata district, West Bengal, India. Etymology Most plausibly, the name is a corruption of ''Khidrpur'' or ''Khizarpur'', Khizr/Khidr being the guardian saint of the seas to the fishing communities of Bengal. Another theory points out that the port probably got its name from James Kyd, a 19th-century engineer who designed and supervised the building of the lock gate that connects the nearby port to the Hooghly River. Narayanganj
Narayanganj ( bn, নারায়ণগঞ্জ ''Naraeongônj'') is a city in central Bangladesh. It is in the Narayanganj District, about southeast of the capital city of Dhaka, and has a population of about 2 million. It is the 6th largest city in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Photographic Society
Bangladesh Photographic Society is a national photographic society located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It had the first photography gallery in Bangladesh with its own dark room. It is a member of the International Federation of Photographic Art. History Bangladesh Photographic Society was established on 1 January 1976 by photographers based in Bangladesh. The society owns and operates the Bangladesh Photographic Institute where photography training is provided. The society also organises annual national and biannual international photography competitions. The institute organises symposiums and seminars in Bangladesh. On 18 November 2012, a workshop on "Light in Portrait Photography" was jointly organized by Bangladesh Photographic Society and Shilpakala Academy. In 2019 the society held an international contest. North South University ( bn, নর্থ সাউথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, also known as NSU) is a private university based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Its business school is the first Bangladeshi university to receive American accreditation from the ACBSP in 2015. Campus The university's campus is located at Bashundhara Residential Area in Dhaka. Manzoor Alam Beg
Manzoor Alam Beg ( bn, মনজুর আলম বেগ; 1 October 193126 July 1998) was a Bangladeshi photographer. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2007 by the Government of Bangladesh. Personal life Beg was the third child of Professor Husam Uddin Beg (from Murshidabad of West Bengal), and Zaheda Chowdhury (from Rajshahi of East Bengal). Professor Husam Uddin Beg was the Principal of B M College in Barisal. Beg married Walida Chowdhury on 17 March 1963. They had three children: photographer Iftekhar Alam Beg, photographer Imtiaz Alam Beg, and Ishtiaque Alam Beg. Beg's eldest brother Mahmood Alam Beg was the Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, which is the central bank of Bangladesh.
