Gods And Mortals
"Gods and Mortals" is a seven issue comic book story arc plotted and drawn by George Pérez, with scripting by Greg Potter and Len Wein. Released in 1987, this was the first arc of the relaunched ''Wonder Woman'' series. Story The Princess and the Power A tale of the Amazons from 30,000 BC to now. A cavewoman, and her unborn daughter, are murdered by her mate. On Mount Olympus, Ares opposes Artemis' plans to create a new race of female mortals to set an example to other mortals, and Zeus does not care. Artemis and four other Goddesses, Athena, Hestia, Demeter, and Aphrodite, go to the Cavern of Souls where they use all the souls of perished, except for one, to create reborn, ageless Amazons. With their queens, Queen Hippolyta and Queen Antiope, the Amazons are successful but there is jealously from Greek kings. Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman is a superheroine who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character first appeared in ''All Star Comics'' Introducing Wonder Woman, #8, published October 21, 1941, with her first feature in ''Sensation Comics'' #1 in January 1942. She was created by the American psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston (pen name: Charles Moulton (choreographer), Charles Moulton), and artist Harry G. Peter in 1941. Marston's wife, Elizabeth Holloway Marston, Elizabeth, and their life partner, Olive Byrne, are credited as being his inspiration for the character's appearance. She is one of the first DC superheroes and is one of the strongest superheroes of all time. Hestia
In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Hestia (; ) is the virgin goddess of the hearth and the home. In myth, she is the firstborn child of the Titans Cronus and Rhea, and one of the Twelve Olympians. In Greek mythology, newborn Hestia, along with four of her five siblings, was devoured by her father Cronus, who feared being overthrown by one of his offspring. Zeus, the youngest child, escaped with his mother's help, and made his father disgorge all his siblings. Cronus was supplanted by this new generation of deities; and Hestia thus became one of the Olympian gods, the new rulers of the cosmos, alongside her brothers and sisters. In spite of her status, she has little prominence in Greek mythology. Like Athena and Artemis, Hestia elected never to marry and remained an eternal virgin goddess instead, forever tending to the hearth of Olympus. Deimos (comics)
Deimos is a fictional character appearing in DC Comics publications and related media, commonly as a recurring adversary for the superhero Warlord. He is a wicked sorcerer created by Mike Grell debuting in '' 1st Issue Special'' #8 (November 1975), and is a distinct character from the Olympian god of the same name, a different DC Comics character who is an enemy of Wonder Woman. Fictional character biography Deimos is a high priest of the kingdom of Thera who uses the legendary Scrolls of Blood to ascend to its throne. Gorgon
The Gorgons ( ; ), in Greek mythology, are three monstrous sisters, Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa, said to be the daughters of Phorcys and Ceto. They lived near their sisters the Graeae, and were able to turn anyone who looked at them to stone. Euryale and Stheno were immortal, but Medusa was not and was slain by the hero Perseus. Gorgons were dread monsters with terrifying eyes. A Gorgon head was displayed on Athena's aegis, giving it the power both to protect her from any weapon, and instill great fear in any enemy. Gorgon blood was said to have both the power to heal and harm. Representations of full-bodied Gorgons and the Gorgon face, called a gorgoneion (pl. gorgoneia), were popular subjects in Ancient Greek, Etruscan and Roman iconography. While Archaic Gorgons and gorgoneia are universally depicted as hideously ugly, over time they came to be portrayed as beautiful young women. Karen Page Pagon Paibok Doctor Paine Dr. Thaddeus Paine is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character, created by Len Kaminski, first appeared in ''Morbius the Living Vampire'' #4 (December 1994). He is a sadist who was unable to feel pain and has prosthesic hands equipped with surgical tools. Doctor Paine is a silent partner of Dr. David Langford which got threatened, resulting in the deaths of Martine Bancroft and his business partner. Doctor Paine then experiments on Morbius the Living Vampire much like his inhumane medical experiments on the homeless, resulting in the Living Vampire vengefully destroying his facility while the Doctor escaped.
