Gobinda Chandra Langthasa
Gobinda Chandra Langthasa (23 January 1932 - 3 February 2018) was an Indian politician from the state of Assam. He was a member of Assam Legislative Assembly for Haflong. He was also a cabinet minister in the first Tarun Gogoi cabinet, and Deputy Chief Minister of Assam under Hiteswar Saikia. Early life and education Langthasa was born on 23 January 1932 between 5:00 and 6:00 A.M to the late Thangrung Langthasa and the late Kenodi Langthasa. He was born in Nutan Wadrengdisa village, Dima Hasao. Langthasa had a Graduate Standard from British Institute of England in 1955-1956. Dima Hasao District
Dima Hasao district (), is an administrative district in the state of Assam, India. As of 2011, it is the least populous district of Assam. Dima Hasao district is one of two autonomous hill districts of Assam. The district headquarters Haflong is the only hill station in the state. Etymology "Dima Hasao" means "Dimasa Hills" in the Dimasa language. History Dimasa kingdom From , Dima Hasao was part of the Dimasa Kingdom (or Kachar kingdom), with its capital at Maibang and Dimapur. Ajai Singh
Lieutenant General Ajai Singh PVSM, AVSM (20 November 1934 – 18 April 2023) was a general officer of the Indian Army Armoured Corps and an administrator, serving as the Governor of Assam from 2003 to 2008, and as the chairman of the North Eastern Council (NEC). Early life and career Ajai Singh was born on 20 November 1934 to a farmer's family in Kunadi of erstwhile Kotah State in Rajasthan. He studied at Mayo College, Ajmer and Madras University. 1985 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
The 8th Assam Legislative Assembly election was held in two phases in 1985 to elect members from 126 constituencies in Assam, India. The Nellie massacre and Khoirabari massacre were some cases of extreme violence. The unrest officially ended on 15 August 1985, following the Assam Accord, which was signed by leaders of AASU-AAGSP and the Government of India. During six years of the movement, a reported 855-860 deaths were reported. Elections to the Assam Legislative Assembly were held in February 1983 to elect members of 114 constituencies in Assam, India. The Indian National Congress won the popular vote and a majority of seats and Hiteswar Saikia was appointed as the Chief Minister of Assam. The number of constituencies was set as 126 by the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission of India. Bonily Khongmen
Kabonmili Timungpi later known as Bonily Khongmen (25 June 1912 – 17 March 2007) was an Indian politician belonging to the Indian National Congress. She was Assam's first female Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, the first karbi person and was also among the first woman Indian politician in the Indian National Congress Party in the then North-East India.
