Its seat is the village of Solec-Zdrój, which lies approximately south-east of Busko-Zdrój and south of the regional capital Kielce. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2006 its total population is 4,987. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Szaniec Landscape Park.
