__NOTOC__ Gmina Głuchołazy is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Nysa County, Opole Voivodeship, in south-western Poland, on the Czech border. Its seat is the town of Głuchołazy, which lies approximately south of Nysa and south-west of the regional capital Opole. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2019 its total population is 23,707. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Opawskie Mountains Landscape Park. The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' ) is the basic unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,479 gminy throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminy include cities and towns, with 322 among them constituting an independent urban gmina () consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta''). The gmina has been the basic unit of territorial division in Poland since 1974, when it replaced the smaller gromada (cluster). Three or more gminy make up a higher level unit called a powiat, except for those holding the status of a city with powiat rights. Sławniowice
Sławniowice () is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Głuchołazy, within Nysa County, Opole Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. It is approximately west of Głuchołazy, south of Nysa, and south-west of the regional capital Opole, on the border with the Czech Republic. Until 1742 it and the Czech village of Velké Kunětice were a single settlement; from 1996 to 2007 it was a border crossing point. Its population was 548 in 2011. Nowy Świętów () () is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Głuchołazy, within Nysa County, Opole Voivodeship, in south-western Poland, close to the Czech border. It lies approximately north of Głuchołazy, south of Nysa, and south-west of the regional capital Opole. History The village was first mentioned in 1300, when it was part of fragmented Piast-ruled Poland. Later on, it was also part of Bohemia (Czechia), Prussia, and Germany.
