Gloria Totten
Gloria Totten is a nonprofit executive. She is the founder and president of the Public Leadership Institute, a nonprofit group that develops model legislation designed to protect access to legalized abortion. Totten previously worked at Progressive Majority from 2001-2015, served as political director of NARAL from 1996-2001, and was the Executive Director for Maryland's state chapter of NARAL from 1993-1996. Progressive Majority was an American political action committee that recruited, trained, and campaigned on behalf of progressive politicians for state and local offices. Founded in 2001, the group's stated mission is "to elect progressive champions." Overview When founded, Progressive Majority assisted progressive candidates in both state and federal elections. After one election cycle, the organization decided to focus on down-ballot races in order to build a pipeline or farm team of progressive candidates for higher office. New American Leaders is a nonprofit organization that recruits people of immigrant heritage to run for elected office in the United States. Programs Through "Ready to Win", New American Leaders recruits first- and second-generation Americans to run for public office, and provides training to help get them elected including topics such as fundraising, navigating campaigns, and leveraging their identities to connect with broad voter bases. The Drum Major Institute for Public Policy (DMI) is a non-profit American progressive think tank and community action group. The group was founded in 1961 in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement. It later became defunct until it was relaunched in 1999. It is headquartered in New York City. re:power, formerly Wellstone Action (stylized in all lowercase), is a 501(c)(4) progressive advocacy organization founded by longtime political operative Jeff Blodgett. Based in Minnesota, it trains community organizers, student activists, campaign staff, progressive candidates and elected officials.
