Global Entrepreneurship Index
The Global Entrepreneurship Index (GEI) is an economic activity index compiled by US-based The Global Entrepreneurship and Development Institute, which looks at how individual countries across the world allocate resources to promoting entrepreneurship, if indeed they do. The Institute was founded by economic scholars from the Imperial College London, the LSE and the University of Pécs (Hungary) to produce the GEI, which gives a rating of an individual country's entrepreneurship ecosystem. Entrepreneurship is the creation or extraction of economic value. With this definition, entrepreneurship is viewed as change, generally entailing risk beyond what is normally encountered in starting a business, which may include other values than simply economic ones. An entrepreneur is an individual who creates and/or invests in one or more businesses, bearing most of the risks and enjoying most of the rewards.The process of setting up a business is known as entrepreneurship. The entrepreneur is commonly seen as an innovator, a source of new ideas, goods, services, and business/or procedures. The University of Pécs (UP; Hungarian: ''Pécsi Tudományegyetem''; PTE) is an institution of higher education in Hungary. The modern university was established in 1912 but has its roots in the medieval university founded in Pécs in 1367 by King Louis I the Great. A total of 20,000 students presently attend the University of Pécs, approximately 4,500 of whom are international students studying in English or German. An ecosystem (or ecological system) consists of all the organisms and the physical environment with which they interact. These biotic and abiotic components are linked together through nutrient cycles and energy flows. Energy enters the system through photosynthesis and is incorporated into plant tissue. By feeding on plants and on one another, animals play an important role in the movement of matter and energy through the system. The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) research project is an annual assessment of the national level of entrepreneurial activity in multiple, diverse countries. Today the study counts the participation of 115 countries and with longitudinal data dating back more than 20 years. The continuous expansion of its collaborative role has made GEM data a valuable tool to influence national economic policies and a quality resource trusted by international organizations such as the United Nations, the World Economic Forum, the World Bank and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is an international initiative that introduces entrepreneurship to young people in six continents.
