Glenn Wheatley
Glenn Dawson Wheatley (23 January 1948 – 1 February 2022) was an Australian musician, talent manager, tour promoter and radio entrepreneur. Wheatley was the founder and managing director of Talentworks. Career Wheatley began his career as a musician in Brisbane in the mid-1960s. In the late 1960s, he became known nationally as the bass player in the rock band The Masters Apprentices. He subsequently formed a media empire which included radio stations and artist management. Wheatley is best known as the long-time manager of John Farnham; he has been described as an "iconic industry figure" and is credited with launching the career of Delta Goodrem. He is also recognised as having established Little River Band in the United States. Abbey Road Studios (formerly EMI Recording Studios) is a music recording studio at 3 Abbey Road, London, Abbey Road, St John's Wood, City of Westminster, London. Rupert Perry
Rupert Perry was educated at Beaudesert School 1955-1961 and at Greshhams School 1962-1964. Started his music business career in 1967 joining Campbell Connelly Music Publishers in their background music library. In 1969 he joined Louvigny Music Publishing, a Radio Luxembourg company. He was a high-ranking member of the EMI Record Corporation. After joining EMI Music in 1971, he was given various promotions. In 1976 he was appointed Vice President of the Artist and Repertoire Department for Capitol Records in the US. In 1982 he was appointed as President of EMI America. ''Little River Band'' is the debut studio album by the Australian rock group Little River Band which was released by EMI in November 1975. It peaked at No. 17 on the Australian Kent Music Report Albums Chart and was certified 2× gold in Australia in November 1976. It was released in the US by Harvest in September 1976. Singles The band's first single, " Curiosity (Killed the Cat)", was released in September 1975, ahead of the album and peaked at No. 15 on the Kent Music Report Singles Chart. Axiom (band)
Axiom were an Australian country rock band formed in May 1969. Founding mainstays were Brian Cadd on lead vocals and piano, Don Mudie on bass guitar (both ex-the Groop), Glenn Shorrock on lead vocals (ex-the Twilights) and Chris Stockley on lead guitar (ex-Cam-Pact). Don Lebler on drums (ex-the Avengers) replaced Doug Lavery (ex- the Valentines) in the following year. They released two studio albums, ''Fool's Gold'' (June 1970) and ''If Only...'' Mississippi (band)
Mississippi were an Australian soft rock band (1972–1975), which included Graham Goble on lead vocals and guitar, Beeb Birtles on lead vocals and guitar, and Derek Pellicci on drums. The band had started as Allison Gros in Adelaide in 1970 and moved to Melbourne in 1971 where they recorded as Allison Gros, Drummond and, early in 1972, became Mississippi. As Drummond they issued a cover version of " Daddy Cool" (July 1971), which peaked at No. 1 on the ''Go-Set'' National Top 40 for eight weeks. As Mississippi they reached No. 10 with "Kings of the World" (October 1972). Derek Pellicci
Derek Allan Pellicci (born 18 February 1953) is an English-born Australian drummer. He is best known as a founding member of Little River Band. Pellicci lives in Melbourne with his wife, Anne and a son. Early life In 1960, Pellicci's family, his father Arthur, mother Jessie and older brother John, emigrated to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia as " Ten Pound Poms". In 1964, his older brother John took the then 11-year-old Pellicci to see The Beatles greet their "sea" of fans from the balcony of Melbourne's Southern Cross Hotel. Gerard Bertelkamp AM (born 28 November 1948), known professionally as Beeb Birtles, is an Australian musician, singer, songwriter and guitarist. He has been a member of various Australian groups including Zoot (1967–71), Mississippi (1972–74), Little River Band (1975–83) and Birtles Shorrock Goble (2002–07).
