Glenn Vernon
Glen Vernon (born Glenn Vernon; October 27, 1923 – October 27, 1999) was an American actor. Early life Glenn Vernon hailed from Fall River, Massachusetts, and joined his father's song-and-dance vaudeville act at the age of six. The elder Vernon split up the act, studying accountancy while sending Glenn to New York to study acting. Glenn took various odd jobs while in New York: "One of them was hustling film back and forth between a downtown exchange and a newsreel theater on upper Broadway." His first stage job was as a member of the chorus in the George Abbott musical '' Best Foot Forward''. He used his given name of Glenn Vernon until 1950, when he adopted "Glen Vernon" as his professional name. The Public Defender (TV Series)
''The Public Defender'' is an American legal drama television series that was broadcast on CBS from March 11, 1954, to June 23, 1955. Premise Reed Hadley had the title role of public defender Bart Matthews. Each episode opened with him in a courtroom setting explaining the role of a public defender and the increase in the number of public defenders from the first one (created in January 1913). In each episode Matthews sought to show that his client was not guilty or to at least obtain a shorter sentence if the person was guilty. He sometimes had to investigate to learn more facts about the client's situation. Hadley portrayed Matthews as "such a character as butter will not melt in his mouth. His hollow eyes and sepulchral voice are enlisted in the defense of parties at odds with the law by force of circumstances." ''Lucky Losers'' is a 1950 American comedy film directed by William Beaudine starring The Bowery Boys. The film was released on May 14, 1950, by Monogram Pictures and is the eighteenth film in the series. It had the working title of ''High Stakes''. Plot Slip and Sach's boss, David J. Thurston, has allegedly committed suicide. Slip finds a book of matches with the name of a local nightclub on his boss' desk and finds out from Gabe that a casino is being run out of it. Slip comes to the conclusion that the club had something to do with his boss' death and sets out to find his murderer. Lippert Pictures was an American film production and distribution company controlled by Robert L. Lippert. History Robert L. Lippert (1909–1976) was a successful exhibitor, owning a chain of movie theaters in California and Oregon.
