Glenn Theakston
Glenn Sacha Theakston is a Magistrate of the Australian Capital Territory. He was appointed as a Magistrate on 30 May 2016 and Acting Chief Magistrate on 1 August 2019 following Lorraine Walker's appointment to the ACT Supreme Court as an Acting Judge. Career In 1993, Theakston graduated from Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Science. In 1997, he worked at Legal Aid ACT as a solicitor. Theakston was then appointed as National Coordinator of Counter-Terrorism at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions in 2006. In 2012, Theakston was called to the bar. He practiced as a barrister in family and civil law in Canberra. In August 2019, Chief Magistrate Lorraine Walker was appointed an Acting Judge of the Supreme Court for 12 months to establish the ACT's first Drug and Alcohol Court. Magistrates Court Of The Australian Capital Territory
The Magistrates Court of the Australian Capital Territory is a court of summary jurisdiction that deals with the majority of criminal law matters and the majority of small civil law matters in the Australian Capital Territory, the Jervis Bay Territory and the Australian Antarctic Territory. The current Chief Magistrate is Lorraine Walker, appointed with effect from 13 October 2011. However, Magistrate Glenn Theakston has been appointed Acting Chief Magistrate due to Walker's 12-month appointment as an Acting Judge of the Supreme Court. Currently eight magistrates and one special magistrate assist the Chief Magistrate in hearing matters before the Court. Gordon Ramsay (politician)
Gordon Ramsay (born 1964) is an Australian politician who served in the Legislative Assembly of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), representing the Ginninderra electorate from 2016 to 2020. He was elected to be a Minister in the Barr government. Ramsay is also a minister of the Uniting Church in Australia, and was earlier a lawyer in New South Wales. Early life Ramsay was raised in the southern Sydney suburb of Banksia, and attended primary schools at Rockdale and Hurstville before Sydney Boys' High School. Simon Corbell (born 21 November 1970) is a former Australian politician and Deputy Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory. He was also Attorney-General, Minister for Health, Minister for the Environment and Minister for the Capital Metro. Lorraine Anne Walker is the Chief Magistrate of the Australian Capital Territory and was an Acting Judge of Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory. She was sworn in as a Magistrate on 19 July 2010 and as Chief Magistrate on 13 October 2011. On 1 August 2019, Walker was appointed an Acting Judge of the Supreme Court for 12 months to establish the Territory's Drug and Alcohol Court. She is the first woman to be appointed Chief Magistrate.
