Glamour (presentation)
In the field of cultural studies, glamour, or glamor, is the impression of attraction or fascination that a particularly luxurious or elegant appearance creates, an impression which intensifies reality. Usually, a person, event, location, technology, or product such as a piece of clothing can be glamorous or add glamour. "Glamour" originally referred to a magic spell, an illusion said to be cast by witches. Virginia Postrel says that for glamour to be successful it nearly always requires sprezzatura—an appearance of effortlessness, and to appear distant—transcending the everyday, to be slightly mysterious and somewhat idealised, but not to the extent it is no longer possible to identify with the person. Glam rock is a style of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s and was primarily defined by the flamboyant clothing, makeup, and hairstyles of its musicians, particularly platform shoes and glitter. Glamorgan Wanderers
Glamorgan Wanderers are a Welsh rugby union club based in Ely, west Cardiff in Wales. The club is located just to the north of Western Cemetery. They currently play in the WRU Admiral Championship. Glamorgan Cricket Club
Glamorgan County Cricket Club () is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Glamorgan (). Founded in 1888, Glamorgan held minor status at first and was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship before the First World War. In 1921, the club joined the County Championship and the team was elevated to first-class status, subsequently playing in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England and Wales. Glamorgan is the only Welsh first-class cricket club. They have won the English County Championship competition in 1948, 1969 and 1997. Zombie Nation is the project of German DJ and producer Florian Senfter. Zombie Nation's single " Kernkraft 400" was a worldwide hit. History The first Zombie Nation EP was released in the spring of 1999 on DJ Hell's label, International DeeJay Gigolo Records. A remix of the song " Kernkraft 400" on this debut release reached high chart positions all over the world, including number 2 in the United Kingdom. ''Primitive Man'', the second studio album by Australian rock band Icehouse, was released on 20 September 1982. In January 1982, Icehouse founder Iva Davies started recording ''Primitive Man'' essentially as a solo project. It was co-produced with Keith Forsey, who later worked with Simple Minds and Billy Idol. Forsey supplied additional percussion; Davies supplied vocals, lead guitar, keyboards ( Sequential Circuits Prophet-5), bass guitar and programmed the Linn drum machine. Glam (band)
Glam (; stylized in all caps) was a South Korean girl group formed by Source Music and produced by Big Hit Entertainment (now Big Hit Music). The group originally consisted of five members: Zinni, Trinity, Jiyeon, Dahee, and Miso. They were the first girl group jointly launched by Source Music and Big Hit Entertainment. Glam officially debuted on July 16, 2012, with the single “Party (XXO).” The group gained attention for its progressive lyrics and genre-blending musical style. Member Trinity left the group shortly after debut, and Glam continued as a four-member group. In 2014, member Dahee was involved in a high-profile blackmail case involving actor Lee Byung-hun, which resulted in a prison sentence. The group disbanded shortly thereafter, in January 2015. However, the soundtrack was rejected by the film's director Josh Evans. Glam Punk
Glam punk is a music genre that began in the early to mid-1970s and incorporates elements of proto-punk and glam rock. The genre was pioneered by the New York Dolls, who influenced the formation of other New York City groups the Stilettos, the Brats and Ruby and the Rednecks and bands in the United Kingdom including Hollywood Brats and Jet. These bands largely began the early punk rock scene. The impact of Hanoi Rocks brought about a revived interest in the sound during the 1980s, seeing a revival with groups including the Dogs D'Amour and Soho Roses, and the pioneering of glam metal.
