Gladys Carmagnola
Gladys Carmagnola (1939–2015) was a Paraguayan poet and teacher. She is one of the country's best known writers; her work is devoted to a wide audience, including works for children and adults. She was born in Guarambaré city Central Department, Paraguay, January 2, 1939, daughter of Ramona and Carlos Herrera Udrizar Carmagnola, a descendant of Italians and died July 9, 2015. Early life Carmagnola shared her childhood with her brothers Carlos, the eldest, Haydee and Selva. As early as adolescence she showed a natural inclination towards poetry. From a very early age she was devoted to teaching, and simultaneously developing her poetic vocation. Career She is co-founder and member of the Society of Writers of Paraguay. She also had involvement in the founding of the group of Paraguayan Associated Writers and the Pen Club of Paraguay. Guarambaré
Guarambaré is a town in the Central Department of Paraguay Paraguay, officially the Republic of Paraguay, is a landlocked country in South America. It is bordered by Argentina to the Argentina–Paraguay border, south and southwest, Brazil to the Brazil–Paraguay border, east and northeast, and Boli .... Guarambaré was the name of a Guaraní tribe in North-Eastern Paraguay at the time of the founding of the Spanish colony during the 16th century. A Franciscan reduction was founded between 1580 and 1600 in the modern-day department of Concepción, south of the river Aquidabán. Ypacaraí Festival
The Ypacaraí Festival has been held in the city of Ypacaraí, Paraguay, since 1971, between August and September. It is a folklore festival organized with great emphasis on all kinds of cultural manifestations. The purpose is to keep alive the memory of great people who have become icons in diverse artistic disciplines. Above all, it is to promote appreciation of art. History The Festival of the Lake, as it is called, started in 1971, the initiative of a group of Ypacaraí citizens who were fond of folklore, with the purpose of celebrating the anniversary of the foundation of the district. The first festival was organized in September.
