Gladwyn Klosking Bush (14 March 1914 – 24 November 2003), also known as Miss Lassie, was a Caymanian folk painter. Life and career Gladwyn was born in South Church Street, George Town, Cayman Islands in March 1914 to Richard and Margaret Bush and was one of ten children. Many Caymanians who grew up with her described Gladwyn in her childhood as being a "wild child". Friends recalled her chasing them and her brothers down the beach with a machete. Others remember her having broken glass bottles lining her fence due to a belief it would protect her household from spirits. During her life, she was not oblivious to those who declared her a madwoman, but instead took some pride in the matter. Henry Mutoo, one of her biggest supporters even stated “reputation that she had was like a lot of older people – if you get on her wrong side she would curse you. Hubert Miles Gladwyn Jebb, 1st Baron Gladwyn (25 April 1900 – 24 October 1996) was a prominent British civil servant, diplomat and politician who served as the acting secretary-general of the United Nations between 1945 and 1946. Gladwyn Kingsley Noble
Gladwyn Kingsley Noble (September 20, 1894 – December 9, 1940) was an American zoologist who served as the head curator for the department of herpetology and the department of experimental biology at the American Museum of Natural History. Noble received bachelor's and master's degrees from Harvard University in 1917 and 1918, respectively, and a Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1922. He joined the herpetology department in 1922 as a research assistant and assistant curator in 1917, and became the chairman of the department in 1924. He later formed the Department of Experimental Biology in 1928, and served as the chairman of both departments until his death on December 9, 1940, from a streptococcal throat infection. Baron Gladwyn
Baron Gladwyn, of Bramfield, Suffolk, Bramfield in the County of Suffolk, was a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1960 for the prominent civil servant and diplomat Gladwyn Jebb. He was Acting Secretary-General of the United Nations from 1945 to 1946 and List of ambassadors of the United Kingdom to France, British Ambassador to France between 1954 and 1960. The title became extinct in 2017 on the death of his son, the second Baron, who succeeded in 1996.
