Gladiatorus
Gladiatorus (foaled 28 March 2005) is an American-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He was initially trained in Italy where he was one of the best juvenile colts of 2007, winning six races (four of them at Listed level) and finishing runner-up in the Group 1 Gran Criterium. He was then acquired by Godolphin but had training problems and missed the whole of the next season. He reached his peak in the early part of 2009 when he won his first three races in Dubai including emphatic victories in the Al Fahidi Fort and the Dubai Duty Free. He was less successful when campaigned in Europe but recorded a final major victory when taking the Premio Vittorio di Capua and was rated one of the best racehorses in the world at the end of the year. Premio Vittorio Di Capua
The Premio Vittorio di Capua is a Group 2 flat horse race in Italy open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It is run at Milan over a distance of 1,600 metres (about 1 mile), and it is scheduled to take place each year in September or October. The event is named in memory of Vittorio di Capua, a former president of San Siro Racecourse, who was kidnapped and murdered in the 1970s. For several years the Premio Vittorio di Capua held Group 2 status. It was promoted to Group 1 level in 1988 and downgraded back to Group 2 in 2017. Al Bahathri
Al Bahathri (15 March 1982 – 7 May 2014) was an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. As a two-year-old she was one of the best of her generation in Europe, winning three of her five races including the Princess Margaret Stakes and the Lowther Stakes. In the following year she was narrowly beaten in the 1000 Guineas before winning the Irish 1,000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes and Child Stakes. After her retirement from racing she became a very successful and influential broodmare, whose descendants included Haafhd, Military Attack, Gladiatorus and Red Cadeaux. She died in 2014 at the age of thirty-two. Background Al Bahathri was a chestnut mare with a white blaze, three white feet and a long white sock on her left hind leg bred in Kentucky by Thomas P. Saeed bin Suroor (born 16 November 1968 in Dubai) is a horse racing trainer in Great Britain. The Al Fahidi Fort, is a horse race run over a distance of 1,400 metres (seven furlongs) on turf in January at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. The race is named after the oldest existing building in Dubai. It was first run in 2003 Nad Al Sheba Racecourse before being transferred to Meydan in 2010. The race distance was 1600 metres until 2014 it was reduced to 1400 metres. The race began as a Listed race in 2003. The race was elevated to Group 3 level in 2004 and became a Group 2 event in 2006. Dubai Turf
The Dubai Turf, known as Dubai Duty Free 1996 to 2014. is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Arab Emirates for four-year-old and above thoroughbreds run over a distance of 1,800 metres (1 mile 1 furlong) on the turf at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai during the Dubai World Cup Night in March. It was first run in 1996 on dirt, with a distance of 2,000 metres (1 mile 2 furlongs). It was transferred to turf, and a distance of 1,777 metres, in 2000. The race attained Group 1 status in 2002. The name of the race is taken from its sponsors, Dubai Duty Free. Between 1996 and 2009 it was run at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse. Since 2010 it has been run in Meydan, where it is run at 1,800 metres. In 2006, the race became the second leg of the four race Asian Mile Challenge. Capannelle Racecourse ( it, Ippodromo delle Capannelle) is a horse racing venue in Rome, Italy. The course was constructed in 1881, and it was rebuilt in 1926 to a design by Paolo Vietti-Violi.
