Giuseppina Nicoli
Giuseppina Nicoli, DC (18 November 1863 – 31 December 1924) was an Italian Catholic religious sister in the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul who became a catechist in Sardinia. She was positioned for most of her life and held several positions of leadership in Turin and elsewhere. Her beatification was started under Pope Paul VI in 1966 and she was later named as Venerable under Pope Benedict XVI in 2006. Cardinal José Saraiva Martins beatified Nicoli in 2008 on the behalf of the pontiff. Her annual liturgical feast is the date of her beatification, February 3. Giuseppina Antonia "Josephine" Morlacchi Omohundro (October 8, 1836 – July 23, 1886) was an Italian American ballerina, dancer, and actress. She introduced the can-can to the American stage. Biography Morlacchi was born in Milan in 1836 and attended dance school at La Scala at the age of six. She debuted on the stage in 1856 at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. In a short time, she became a well-known dancer, touring the continent and England. In Lisbon, she met noted artist and manager Don Juan (John) De Pol, who persuaded her to go to America and perform in his ''DePol Parisian Ballet''. Giuseppina Martinuzzi (Albona, 14 February 1844 – Albona, 25 November 1925) was an Italian pedagogue, journalist, socialist, and feminist. Biography Personal life Martinuzzi was born in Labin to Antonia Luis and Giovanni Pietro Martinuzzi (mayor of Labin); she was the eldest of three children. She qualified as a teacher in 1875. She lived a long time in Trieste, where she taught in the poor neighbourhoods of the city, helping with the integration of the Slovenians and fighting against narrow nationalistic municipalism. Giuseppina Huguet (22 September 1871–1951) was a Catalan operatic soprano with a lyrical voice who sang throughout Europe prior to World War I. Huguet was born in 1871 in Barcelona and registered on official documents as "Josefina" Huguet. Her first music teacher was Francisco Bonet in Barcelona, where she soon made her operatic debut as Lakmé at the Teatro Liceu of Barcelona. She subsequently toured several countries, including some South American nations. She performed, too, with success in Italy, appearing for the first time at Milan's La Scala in 1896, where she sang the role of Ophélie in Ambroise Thomas's ''Hamlet''.
