Gitte Lindstrøm
Gitte Lindstrøm (born 1975) is a Danish ballet dancer and ballet teacher. She joined the Royal Danish Ballet in 1992, becoming a principal dancer in 1998. Biography After studying at the Royal Danish Ballet School, Lindstrøm became an apprentice with the ballet company in 1992, a member of the corps in 1994 and a soloist in 1997. In 1998, she was promoted to principal dancer. Lindstrøm's leading roles include those in ''Onegin'', ''Swan Lake'', '' The Sleeping Beauty'', ''The Nutcracker'' and Teresina in Bournonville's ''Napoli''. Her Birthe in Bournonville's ''A Folk Tale'' was described as "feisty, wacky, tempestuous" with wonderful "wild, high kicking dances and temper tantrums, interspersed with moments of near complete grace". She was considered to have given a "stellar performance" at the world première of Tim Rushton's ''Requiem'' in 2006. The Royal Danish Ballet ( Danish: ''Den Kongelige Ballet'') is an internationally renowned classical ballet company, based at the Royal Danish Theatre in Kongens Nytorv, Copenhagen, Denmark. Royal Swedish Ballet
The Royal Swedish Ballet is one of the oldest ballet companies in Europe. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Gustav III of Sweden, King Gustav III founded the ballet in 1773 as a part of his national cultural project in response to the French and Italian dominance in this field; he also founded the Royal Swedish Opera and the Royal Dramatic Theatre. Tim Rushton
Timothy John Rushton MBE (born 18 March 1963 in England) is a British choreographer and from 2001 to 2018 artistic leader of the Copenhagen-based Danish Dance Theatre, Denmark's largest modern dance company. Tim Rushton was trained at The Royal Ballet School in Covent Garden, London, from 1979 to 1982, studying with Erik Bruhn, Frederick Ashton and Kenneth MacMillan. Later he danced with the Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet, now known as the Birmingham Royal Ballet. He was engaged at Deutsche Oper am Rhein between 1982 and 1986, Malmö City Theatre 1986-1987 and the Royal Danish Ballet 1987–1992. While a dancer at the Royal Danish Ballet he became interested in pursuing a choreographic career and decided to quit dancing. ''Napoli, or The Fisherman and His Bride'' is a ballet created in 1842 for Denmark's Royal Ballet by Danish choreographer and ballet master August Bournonville. It tells the story of Teresina, a young Italian girl who falls in love with Gennaro, a fisherman, and culminates in the marriage of the lovers. Synopsis Act I (The Market). Teresina's mother, Veronica, who does not want her to marry poor Gennaro, introduces her to two other suitors. These are two older but rich men named Peppo and Giacomo.
