Gita Krishnankutty is a Malayalam-English translator from Kerala, India. She has also written subtitles for many noted Malayalam films. She received many awards including Sahitya Akademi Award for Translation, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contributions and Crossword Book Award for Translation. Biography Gita Krishnankutty was born and raised in Chengammanad, near Aluva in Ernakulam district. Her father, who was from Palakkad, was an officer in the Madras Presidency Service. Her mother was from Chengamanad. Since her father got transferred every three years, she completed her studies in different places. After studying in Ooty and Coonoor, she also studied in Kozhikode for three years, when her father worked at the district hospital there. At the age of nineteen, she got married and moved to Chennai. Chengamanad is a small town in Aluva, Ernakulam district in the state of Kerala, India. It is situated on the banks of the river Periyar. ''Randamoozham'' () is a 1984 Indian Malayalam-language mythological drama novel by M. T. Vasudevan Nair, widely credited as his masterpiece. First serialized in ''Kalakaumudi Weekly'', it won the Vayalar Award for the best literary work in Malayalam in 1985. It also won the Muttathu Varkey Award in 1994. The novel is a retelling of the Indian epic ''Mahabharata'' from the perspective of Bhima, the second Pandava. The story deviates from the traditional story as it avoids the divine elements and re-represent the characters and events realistically. One of the reasons critics cite for the novel's cult following is its revisionism. The novel has been translated into multiple languages. It was translated into English as ''Second Turn'' by P. K. ''Naalukettu'' is a Malayalam novel written by M. T. Vasudevan Nair. Published in 1958, it was MT's first major novel. The title attributes to Nālukettu, a traditional ancestral home (''Taravad'') of a Nair joint family. Like many other novels written by MT, ''Naalukettu'' is also set against the backdrop of the declining traditional joint family structure of Kerala in a newly independent India. P. Sachidanandan (born 1936), who uses the pseudonym Anand, is an Indian writer, writing primarily in Malayalam. He is one of the known living intellectuals in India. His works are noted for their philosophical flavor, historical context and their humanism. Shyamaprasad (born 7 November 1960) is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter and actor who works in Malayalam films.
