Girlicious
Girlicious was an American girl group originally formed by Robin Antin, creator of the Pussycat Dolls, from The CW reality TV show '' Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious''. The group was originally signed to Geffen Records and composed of members Nichole Cordova, Tiffanie Anderson, Chrystina Sayers and Natalie Mejia. Their self-titled debut album was released in Canada in August 2008 and reached number two on the Canadian Albums Chart. After Anderson left the group in June 2009, Girlicious signed with Universal Music Canada and released their second studio album, ''Rebuilt'', in November 2010. Mejia and Sayers departed the group in February 2011. Nichole Cordova later announced the end of Girlicious, and her joining a new girl group called Girls United. ''Girlicious'' is the self-titled debut studio album by American girl group Girlicious, released on 12 August 2008 through Geffen Records. It infuses hip hop and R&B with pop music. Its production began in 2007, after the filming of '' Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious''. After debuting at #2 on the Canadian Hot 100, it sold 80,000 copies and was certified Platinum. A Deluxe Edition was released on December 16, 2008, including two new songs and three remixes of the original singles. Release and reception Released as a CD and music download in Canada on August 12, 2008, the album generated positive reviews from critics upon its release. The album topped the charts debuting at number 2 on the Canadian Album Charts and has since been certified Platinum. To date the album sparked three singles. ''Rebuilt'' is the second and final studio album by the American girl group Girlicious. The album was released on November 22, 2010, by Universal Music Canada. The album draws from the dance-pop genre while infusing hints of R&B. Production initially started in 2009, after former member Tiffanie Anderson parted citing personal differences between the girls. The album has sparked four singles and one promotional single; The first being, "Over You" which was released on January 5, 2010. The song reached number fifty-two on the Canadian Hot 100. "Maniac" was released on April 6, 2010 as the album's second single. The song peaked lower than its previous single reaching number seventy-four. "Drank" was released on July 20, 2010 to Canada and to the United States as a promotional song for "Rebuilt" as well as being included on ''Jersey Shore''s album soundtrack. "Maniac" is a song performed by American girl group Girlicious. Released as the second single from their second album, '' Rebuilt''. It officially impacted Canadian radio on March 23, 2010. It was released to iTunes Canada on April 6, 2010, and reached #74 on the Canadian Hot 100. It performed best on the Serbian Top 50 singles, where it charted for eleven weeks and reached #11. Writing and inspiration "Maniac" was written by Brent Paschke, Drew Ryan Scott & Joacim Persson. It was a joint venture between Ken Mok's 10 by 10 Entertainment, Pussycat LLC, and Warner Horizon Television. Overview The series followed a group of young women as they went through an audition process to join the girl group, the Pussycat Dolls. The contestants, who also lived together during the course of the series, were groomed by the group's founder and the series' creator and co-producer, Robin Antin, and were judged on their vocal and dancing ability. Robin Antin
Robin Antin is an American actress, entrepreneur, dancer, choreographer and clothing designer. In 1995, she founded the modern burlesque troupe the Pussycat Dolls. By 2005, she diversified into various media including a pop recording group with international hits, a Las Vegas nightclub venue and floor show, various merchandise, and a reality television series. Since then, she has gone on to create other girl groups, including G.R.L., Girlicious and Paradiso Girls. As a choreographer, Antin worked with Paris Hilton, Anastacia, Pink, the Offspring and No Doubt. Additionally, she was responsible for the dance ensembles in various films. The Pussycat Dolls were an American girl group and dance ensemble, founded in Los Angeles, California, by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995 as a burlesque troupe.
