Girindra Mallik
Girindra Mallik (born 1 May 1939) is a former member of the Assam Legislative Assembly and represented the Dholai on two separate occasions. He was first elected to the legislative assembly in 1996 defeating Parimal Suklabaidya but was defeated in the 2001 Assam Legislative election by Parimal Suklaibaidya. He was re-elected from the same constituency for a second term in 2011 defeating Parimal Suklabaidya. 2001 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
Elections to the Assam Legislative Assembly were held in 2001 to elect members of 114 constituencies in Assam, India. The Indian National Congress won the popular vote and a majority of seats and Tarun Gogoi was appointed as the Chief Minister of Assam. The number of constituencies was set as 126, by the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission of India. After the elections, the sitting MP for Kaliabor. Tarun Gogoi became the chief minister. His brother, Dip Gogoi, the winner from the Titabar constituency, resigned from his seat so that Tarun could win the seat in a by-election. 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
The Assam Legislative Assembly Election of 2016 was held in two phases, on 4 and 11 April 2016, to elect members of the 126 constituencies in Assam, a state in North-eastern India. The overall voter turnout was 84.72%, which set a new record for Assam. The turnout was an increase from the 2011 Assembly election figure of 75%. Tarun Gogoi
Tarun Gogoi (11 October 1936 – 23 November 2020) was an Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of Assam from 2001 to 2016. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and led the party to a record three consecutive electoral victories and was the longest serving chief minister of the state.
