Giovanni Testori
Giovanni Testori (Novate Milanese, 12 May 1923 – Milan, 16 March 1993) was an Italian writer, journalist, poet, art and literary critic, dramatist, screenplay writer, theatrical director and painter. Biography Childhood and youth “It is enough to love reality, always, in every possible way, even in the precipitate and approximate way that has been mine. But love it. Apart from that, there are no precepts”. Giovanni Testori was born in Novate Milanese, a town on the outskirts of Milan, the third of six siblings. Both his parents were originally from the upper Brianza area. His father, Edoardo, was from Sormano; his mother, Lina Paracchi, from Lasnigo. These were places that remained close to Testori's consciousness and a part of his creative imagery. His memories frequently return to the period of his childhood and his family, to which he remained intimately linked. Novate Milanese (Milanese: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Milan in the Italian region Lombardy, located about northwest of Milan. Novate Milanese borders the following municipalities: Bollate, Baranzate, Cormano, Milan. Novate received the honorary title of city with a presidential decree on January 16, 2004. Abraham Mintchine
Abraham Mintchine (4 April 1898 – 25 April 1931) was one of the major painters associated to the artists' environment known as School of Paris. Mintchine was Jewish and immigrated from Kyiv in Ukraine to Paris in 1925. His known artwork was produced mostly while in Paris and la Garde, between 1926 and 1931. He is famous for vibrant paintings where mysticism is also often present. His work can be related to expressionism, although as highlighted by Giovanni Testori, these categories which are convenient in art history are often too narrow to characterise painters like Mintchine. Mintchine was born in Kyiv where at age 13 he was an apprentice to a goldsmith. He began painting from the age of 16 and studied at the Kyiv Art College (together with Josyf Weissblatt, Olexandr Tyshler) and at Olexandra Exter. Later he left Ukraine for Berlin in 1923.
