Giorgio Bogi
Giorgio (Bíró) Bogi (born 24 June 1929 in La Spezia), is an Italian surgeon and politician. Biography He graduated in medicine and surgery, and worked as a doctor until the 1970s. He was latterly the head physician of a hospital in La Spezia. He was a member of the Italian Republican Party, and in 1972 was elected as an MP for the first time. He was then re-elected continuously until the XIV Legislature in 2001. He served as Undersecretary to the Minister of Post and Telecommunications in the governments led by Francesco Cossiga, Cossiga, Arnaldo Forlani, Forlani and Giovanni Spadolini, Spadolini, from 4 April 1980 to 1 December 1982. He held the same office from 4 August 1983 to 17 April 1987 in the two governments led by Bettino Craxi. Bettino Craxi
Benedetto "Bettino" Craxi ( ; ; ; 24 February 1934 – 19 January 2000) was an Italian politician and statesman, leader of the Italian Socialist Party (PSI) from 1976 to 1993, and the 45th Prime Minister of Italy, prime minister of Italy from 1983 to 1987. He was the first PSI member to become prime minister and the second from a Socialism, socialist party to hold the office. He led the third-longest government in the Italy, Italian Republic and he is considered one of the most powerful and prominent politicians of the First Italian Republic. Craxi was involved in investigations conducted by judges in Milan, eventually being convicted for political corruption and illicit financing of the PSI. The first Prodi government was the 53rd government of Italy. It held office from 18 May 1996 until 21 October 1998. Formation On 21 April 1996, the Olive Tree won 1996 general election in alliance with the Communist Refoundation Party (PRC), making Romano Prodi Prime Minister of Italy. The Olive Tree's main component was the Democratic Party of the Left, which contained the bulk of the former Italian Communist Party. Democratic Alliance (Italy)
The Democratic Alliance (, AD) was a social-liberal political party in Italy. AD was founded in 1993 with the intent of becoming the container of an alliance of centre-left forces; however, the project did not succeed. As such, AD acted as a minor social-liberal party, proposing economic liberalism, criticism of the Italian left's statism, and a shake-up of the political system. AD members were mainly former Republicans and former Socialists, while its founder and leader, Willer Bordon, was a former member of the Italian Communist Party and the Democratic Party of the Left.
