Gino Vannelli
Gino Vannelli (born June 16, 1952) is a Canadian rock singer and songwriter who had several hit songs in the 1970s and 1980s. His best-known singles include " People Gotta Move" (1974), " I Just Wanna Stop" (1978), " Living Inside Myself" (1981) and " Wild Horses" (1987). Career Vannelli was born to an Italian family in Montreal, Quebec. His father, (Joseph) Russ Vannelli, sang with the Montreal dance bands of trumpeters Bix Belair and Maynard Ferguson. His early ambition was to be a drummer. He admired Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich, and he played drums in a pop band while he was in high school. In 1969, at the age of seventeen, he signed a contract with RCA Records, using the name Vann Elli. He studied music theory at McGill University in Montreal. Dennis Coffey
Dennis James Coffey (born November 11, 1940) is an American guitarist. He was a studio musician for many soul and R&B recordings, and is well known for his 1971 Top 10 hit single " Scorpio". Biography Coffey learned to play guitar at the age of thirteen, in the Michigan Upper Peninsula town of Copper City. In 1955, as a fifteen-year-old sophomore at Detroit's Mackenzie High School, Dennis played his first record session - backing Vic Gallon in "I'm Gone", on the Gondola record label. ''Crazy Life'', originally released in 1973 by A&M Records, is the debut album by Canadian singer and songwriter Gino Vannelli. Six years before ''Crazy Life'' came out, Vannelli had gained a recording contract with RCA Canada under the name Van Elli because his real name was viewed "too Italian". However, Van Elli would release only one single under that moniker, 1970's "Gina Bold", before being dropped. With brothers Joe and Ross, Vannelli traveled to New York, back to Montreal, and again to Los Angeles where he was discovered by producer Herb Alpert and gave him a demo tape.
