Gilmore, Ohio
Gilmore is an unincorporated community in Washington Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio, south of the village of Gnadenhutten. Gilmore sits on Tuscarawas County Road 10 (Gilmore Road) and is intersected by Tuscarawas County Road 14 (River Hill and Fallen Timber Roads) at Gilmore's square. History Gilmore was platted in 1848. The community has the name of Nathaniel Gilmore, a pioneer settler. A post office called Gilmore was established in 1854, and remained in operation until 1950. Gnadenhutten ( , meaning "Huts of Grace" in German language, German) is a Village (Ohio), village located on the Tuscarawas River in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, United States. Cy Young
Denton True "Cy" Young (March 29, 1867 – November 4, 1955) was an American Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher. Born in Gilmore, Ohio, he worked on his family's farm as a youth before starting his professional baseball career. Young entered the major leagues in 1890 with the National League (baseball), National League's Cleveland Spiders and pitched for them until 1898. He was then transferred to the St. Louis Cardinals franchise. In 1901, Young jumped to the American League and played for the Boston Red Sox franchise until 1908, helping them win the 1903 World Series. He finished his career with the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Naps and History of the Boston Braves, Boston Rustlers, retiring in 1911. The Cy Young Award is given annually to the best pitchers in Major League Baseball (MLB), one each for the American League (AL) and National League (baseball), National League (NL). The award was introduced in 1956 by Commissioner of Baseball (MLB), Baseball Commissioner Ford C. Frick in honor of Baseball Hall of Fame, Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young, who died in 1955.
