Gillis Wilson
Gillis R. Wilson III (born October 15, 1977) is an American former professional football defensive end. He was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL draft after playing college football at Southern University. Wilson was also a member of the New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals, Rhein Fire, Georgia Force, Kansas City Brigade, Grand Rapids Rampage and Dallas Vigilantes. Early life and college Gillis R. Wilson III was born on October 15, 1977, in Morgan City, Louisiana. He attended Patterson High School in Patterson, Louisiana. He was a member of the Southern Jaguars of Southern University from 1996 to 1999. He did not play in any games in 1996. Professional career Wilson was drafted by the Carolina Panthers with the 147th pick in the 2000 NFL draft. He moved to the active roster on December 21, 2000. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. In gridiron football, a sack occurs when the quarterback (or another offensive player acting as a passer) is tackle (football move), tackled behind the line of scrimmage before throwing a forward pass, when the quarterback is tackled behind the line of scrimmage in the "passing pocket, pocket" and without clear intent, or when a passer runs out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage due to defensive pressure. Patterson, Louisiana
Patterson is a city in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 6,112 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Morgan City Micropolitan Statistical Area. History During the early 19th century, a group of Pennsylvania Dutchmen boarded a sailing vessel in New Orleans and ventured into the Bayou Teche. One of them, Hans Knight, decided to settle his family in what is now Patterson. The community was originally called Dutch Settlement, Dutch Prairie, and Dutch Town. In 1832, Captain John Patterson, a trader from Indiana, settled there. He built a store and became a prominent citizen.
