Anna Caterina Gilli (born bef. 1729, died bef. 1820), was an Italian painter, active in Turin between 1729 and 1751. Her name is sometimes given as Gili or Gillia. Little is known of Gilli's life and career save that she was active as a decorative artist for the Royal Palace of Turin and the Palazzina di caccia of Stupinigi; her work has been described as similar to that of Michele Antonio Rapos. Pierina Gilli (August 3, 1911 – January 12, 1991), was an Italian visionary who claimed to receive apparitions and messages from the Virgin Mary in 1947 and 1966. The Marian apparitions were originally determined by the local ordinary, after consultation with the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), to be lacking in sufficient evidence of credibility. However, a process of review which began in 2013 and is ongoing as of 2022 has reached a provisional finding of the 'validity and exemplarity of the mystical-spiritual experience of Pierina, as well as the richness of her existential, humble and virtuous story.' She completed a three-year diploma as a nurse after completing second-level education. Afterwards she took the secondary school leaving certificate and then studied medicine. Parallel to her studies, she continued her education in classical homeopathy and traditional Chinese medicine.
