Gilles Alé
Gilles Alé (or Hallet; 1620 in Liege – 1694 in Rome), a Flemish painter, worked in the latter half of the 17th century, and was distinguished for the purity of his style, according to the principles of the Roman school. According to the RKD he was the son of Jean Hallet who married the sister of Walther Damery. The Netherlands Institute for Art History or RKD (Dutch: ), previously Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie (RKD), is located in The Hague and is home to the largest art history center in the world. The center specializes in documentation, archives, and books on Western art from the late Middle Ages until modern times. All of this is open to the public, and much of it has been digitized and is available on their website. The main goal of the bureau is to collect, categorize, and make art research available, most notably in the field of Dutch Masters. Giovanni Maria Morandi
Giovanni Maria Morandi (30 April 1622 – 18 February 1717) was an Italian Baroque painter, known for altarpieces and portraits. Biography He was born in Florence. He studied art with Orazio Fidani and Giovanni Bilivert. Very few works date from this period, although a painting of Christ at the (demolished) is mentioned by Raffaelo Del Bruno in his guide book to Florence (1757). He probably left there sometime in the late 1640s or early 1650s. Most of his career was spent in Rome, where he painted numerous altarpieces, including the '' Death of Mary'' in the church of Santa Maria della Pace (1664). He also worked at Santa Maria in Vallicella, where he depicted the Pentecost, Santa Maria del Popolo, where he painted a '' Visitation'', and Santa Maria dell'Anima, where he created a ''Visitation'' and a '' Marriage of the Virgin''. Giuseppe Bonati
Giuseppe Bonati (1635 – 12 March 1681) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active in Rome and Ferrara. He is also known as ''Giovannino del Pio'' or ''Giovanni Bonatti''. He initially trained as a pupil of Francesco Costanzo Cattaneo and Leonello Bononi. Under the patronage of cardinal Carlo Pio di Savoia, in 1658 he was sent to Bologna to train with Guercino. In 1662, he travels to Rome to work in the studio of Pier Francesco Mola. Bonati attempts to establish a studio to rival Carlo Maratta. Along with his patrons, he traveled through Italy, including Venice, returning in 1665 to Rome. In Rome he worked in many churches, including Santa Croce in Gerusalemme (''Saint Bernard miraculously extracts a tooth from relics of Saint Caesarius of Terracina'', the first autel on the left side) and Santa Maria in Vallicella. Giovanni Francesco Romanelli
Giovanni Francesco Romanelli (Viterbo, 1610Baldinucci claims the date is May 14, 1617.– Viterbo, 1662) was a major Italian people, Italian painter of the Baroque period, celebrated for his use of bright, vivid colors and also for his clarity of detail. Many of his works are on display in the Louvre. Biography Romanelli was trained in Rome in the studio of Pietro da Cortona, the leading painter of his day. Born in Viterbo to Laura de Angelis and Bartolomeo Romanelli, he went to Rome at age 14 to study to become an artist, and within a few years became part of the household of Cardinal Francesco Barberini (1597–1679), Francesco Barberini. Santa Maria Dell'Anima
Santa Maria dell'Anima () is a church in central Rome, Italy, just west of the Piazza Navona and near the Santa Maria della Pace church. It was founded during the course of the 14th century by Dutch merchants, who at that time belonged to the Holy Roman Empire. In the course of the 15th century, it became the national church of the whole Holy Roman Empire in Rome and henceforth the so-called German national church and hospice of German-speaking people in Rome.
