Gilda Live
''Gilda Live'' is a 1980 American comedy musical film starring Gilda Radner, directed by Mike Nichols and produced by Lorne Michaels. Radner and Michaels and all of the writers involved with the production were alumni from the television program ''Saturday Night Live''. Summary ''Gilda Live'' is a filmed version of the comedic one-woman show performance of ''Gilda Radner Live on Broadway''. Originally titled ''Gilda Radner: Live from New York'' and renamed ''Gilda Live'' for the film debut. The show had success as a play but the film itself and the record album as well, both released in March 1980, were flops with critics and the public. The ''Gilda Live'' film was shot in Boston a few weeks before the start of ''Saturday Night Lives fifth season in 1979. It was decided not to film it in New York because of union problems. Mike Nichols
Mike Nichols (born Igor Mikhail Peschkowsky; November 6, 1931 – November 19, 2014) was an American film and theatre director and comedian. He worked across a range of genres and had an aptitude for getting the best out of actors regardless of their experience. He is one of 21 people to have won all four of the major American entertainment awards: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony (EGOT). His other honors included three BAFTA Awards, the Lincoln Center Gala Tribute in 1999, the National Medal of Arts in 2001, the Kennedy Center Honors in 2003 and the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2010. Maria Elena Vidal (born August 1, 1960) is an American singer songwriter. Howard Leslie Shore (born October 18, 1946) is a Canadian composer, conductor and orchestrator noted for his film scores. "The Nerds" is a series of sketches on American sketch comedy series ''Saturday Night Live.''
