Gilda Galán
Gilda Galán (January 16, 1917 – June 21, 2009) was a Puerto Rican actress, comedian, writer, composer, scriptwriter and poet. The veteran actress, whose career spanned decades, enjoyed one of the longest careers in the history of the Puerto Rican entertainment industry. Life Gilda Galán was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico, in 1917. Galán died on Sunday afternoon, June 21, 2009, at 1:06 P.M. at El Hogar Alivio Dorado in Carolina, Puerto Rico at the age of 92. Galan had been in declining health during the last six months of her life. Career Galán began working at WKAQ (AM) radio in San Juan in 1948 following her graduation from high school. She worked as a programming and writer at WKAQ, as well as a comedic and dramatic voice actress on the air for the station. Guayama
Guayama (, ), officially the Autonomous Municipality of Guayama (), is a Guayama barrio-pueblo, city and Municipalities of Puerto Rico, municipality on the Caribbean Sea, Caribbean coast of Puerto Rico. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 U.S. Census, the city had a population of 36,614. It is the center of the Guayama metropolitan area with a population of 68,442 in 2020. Etymology and nicknames The original name of the city is San Antonio de Padua de Guayama, named after the saint Anthony of Padua; as with other settlement names in Puerto Rico, the name was eventually shortened to ''Guayama''. ''Guayama'' comes from the name of a Taíno cacique (chief), who was leader of the tribes in the southeastern coast of Puerto Rico. Federico del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús García Lorca (5 June 1898 – 19 August 1936) was a Spanish poet, playwright, and theatre director. García Lorca achieved international recognition as an emblematic member of the Generation of '27, a group consisting mostly of poets who introduced the tenets of European movements (such as symbolism (arts), symbolism, futurism, and surrealism) into Spanish literature. He initially rose to fame with ''Romancero gitano'' (''Gypsy Ballads'', 1928), a book of poems depicting life in his native Andalusia. His poetry incorporated traditional Andalusian motifs and avant-garde styles. Helena Montalban
Helena Montalban (15 May, 1926 in Bahia Blanca, Argentina-2 March, 1991 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico) was an Argentine-Puerto Rican theater, film and telenovela actress, producer and talk show host. Montalban, who also worked as an actress in Colombia and the Dominican Republic, is best known for her telenovela work in the Caribbean country of Puerto Rico. Early life Montalban was born Helena Monkobodsky in Bahia Blanca, to Moises Monkobodsky, a tailor, and his wife Yustine. The Monkobodsky's were Polish-Jewish immigrants to Argentina. When Montalban was eight, her family moved to Buenos Aires. In that port city, Montalban took an interest in dramatic arts and began studying acting from a young age.
