Gilda (Italian Singer)
Rosangela Scalabrino (born 31 May 1950), known professionally as Gilda, is an Italian singer. She won the Sanremo Music Festival 1975 with the song "Ragazza del sud". Life and career A native of Masserano, Piedmont, Gilda started her career as the vocalist in a local band. After failing to qualify in a previous edition of the festival, she debuted at the 25th edition of the Sanremo Music Festival and won the competition with a song composed by herself, "Ragazza del sud", which was heavily criticized for its anti-feminist lyrics and its negative portrayal of Southern Italy.Fabrizio Zampa. Sanremo Music Festival 1975
The Sanremo Music Festival 1975 (), officially the 25th Italian Song Festival (), was the 25th annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Sanremo Casino in Sanremo between 27 February and 1 March 1975, and broadcast by (RAI). The show was presented by Mike Bongiorno, assisted by Sabina Ciuffini. Because of some disagreements with the municipality of Sanremo (organizer of the event), the major record companies decided to boycott the event and not enter their artists in the competition. As a result, the vast majority of the participants were emerging artists. The winner of the festival was Gilda with "Ragazza del sud", a song which was criticized because of its use of stereotypes about people of Southern Italy. Iva Zanicchi
Iva Zanicchi (; born 18 January 1940) is an Italian pop singer and politician. She has a mezzo-soprano voice and is nick-named by the press as the "Eagle from Ligonchio" (). Biography Iva Zanicchi was born in Ligonchio, in the province of Reggio Emilia, to Zefiro Zanicchi (1909–2004) and Elsa Raffaelli (1914–2010). Her career began in 1962 at the Castrocaro Music Festival, where she earned third place.
