Gijs Van Hoecke
Gijs Van Hoecke (born 12 November 1991) is a Belgian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Career In 2011, when he was 19 years old, he was selected to participate at the Track Cycling World Championships, where he won the bronze medal in the Men's omnium. One year later, at the World Championships in Melbourne, he finished ninth in the same event and became Madison World Champion. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed in the Men's team pursuit for the Belgian national team, and the men's omnium. Van Hoecke won the bronze medal at the Madison in the 2013 European Track Championships. During that year, he also won his first six-day race in Amsterdam. In 2014, Van Hoecke won the Internationale Wielertrofee Jong Maar Moedig road race. In May 2018, he was named in the startlist for the 2018 Giro d'Italia. The Six Days of Amsterdam ( nl, Zesdaagse van Amsterdam) is a Six-day racing, six-day track cycling race held at the Amsterdam Velodrome in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The recordholder for the Six Days of Amsterdam is the Dutch cyclist Danny Stam with four victories. 2010–11 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics
The 2010–2011 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics was a multi race tournament over a season of track cycling. The season ran from 2 December 2010 to 20 February 2011. The World Cup is organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale. As in the previous season, the rounds were held in Melbourne (Australia), Cali (Colombia), Beijing (China) and Manchester (Great Britain) although there was a slight reshuffling with Manchester moving from the first round to the last. In a change to the format of World Cup events, only the Olympic events (Keirin, Omnium, sprint (cycling), sprint, team sprint and team pursuit) were contested at each round. The other World Championships events were contested at one or two rounds only. The UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships (named the UCI Juniors Track World Championships before 2016) are a set of world championship events for junior riders, for various disciplines and distances in track cycling and are regulated by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
