Giff Zimmerman
Gifford Guy Zimmerman (August 25, 1900 – November 27, 1968) was a professional football player who played two seasons in the National Football League, with the Akron Pros and the Canton Bulldogs. In 1926, he scored two touchdowns with the Bulldogs. Prior to playing in the NFL, Zimmerman played college football and college basketball at Syracuse University. He played forward for the Syracuse basketball team for two seasons. Akron () is the fifth-largest city in the U.S. state of Ohio and is the county seat of Summit County. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. Kicker (American Football)
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster. George Blanda, Lou Groza, Frank Gifford and Paul Hornung are prominent examples of players who were stars at other positions as well as being known for their kicking abilities.
