Gibizinho
Gibizinho (lit. ''Little Comic Book'') was a title of a comic book created by Editora Globo that was published between 1991 and 1998, at first as a weekly magazine that often varied the character in each issue between characters by Mauricio de Sousa and other licensed characters who had comics published by Globo like the Mexican characters ''El Chavo del Ocho'' and ''El Chapulín Colorado'' or celebrities like ''Xuxa'' and ''Leandro & Leonardo''. Starting in 1993, the title of the comic became monthly and started to focus only on ''Monica and Friends'' being renamed as Gibizinho da Mônica. The comic books were characterized by their pocket format in a small size of between 13.5 x 9.5 cm and short stories. The series was discontinued in 1998, but in the same year republications in the form of almanacs (excluding the early comics unrelated to Monica and Friends) were started, lasting until 2006. Inspirations Previously, between December 1984 and January 1985, 6 mini-magazines wer ...

List Of Monica's Gang Characters
This is a list of characters from the Monica's Gang franchise, created by Brazilian cartoonist Maurício de Sousa. Note that only characters from the main series are detailed here. For characters from related publications, check the navigation box at the bottom of this page. In 2011, in an internet chatroom, Maurício revealed that the character's neighborhood was inspired on the neighborhood of Cambuí, in the city of Campinas, where he lived for a few years. It's a place with lots of plants and trees, a soccer field (where the boys play), a garbage dumpster which Smudge used to play in (not anymore, due to the political correctness of recent editions), and little to no asphalt. Before Monica's debut in 1963, Maurício's initial characters were all male. After being accused of misogyny, he began creating his first female characters which were inspired by some of his own daughters. Main characters The four main characters of ''Monica's Gang'' are: * Monica (''Mônica'') * J ...

The Cavern Clan
''The Cavern Clan'' (''Piteco'') is a Brazilian comic strip created in 1961 by Mauricio de Sousa. It is part of the ''Monica's Gang'' series. It centers around a prehistoric tribe in the Stone Age and depicts them living in the presence of dinosaurs. Most of the stories feature Pitheco hunting dinosaurs, running away from Tooga, or even his friends and he fighting against other village's people. The characters were anachronistically aware; for example, if a character needed to walk a long distance, he or she would say, “Too bad they didn’t invent the car yet, ’cause otherwise I could go faster”. Mauricio de Sousa was inspired by the American comic strips Tarzan (by Burne Hogarth) and ''Alley Oop'' strips and named Pitheco's village Lem (which in ''Alley Oop'' refer to Lemuria). Characters * ''Pitheco'' (''Piteco'') – his whole name is '' Pithecanthropus erectus'' da Silva and he lives at the fictional Lem Village. He is mostly portrayed as a hunter who goes after di ...

Tina's Pals
''Tina's Pals'' (Turma da Tina) is a Brazilian comic strip series, part of the Monica's Gang series, created in 1970. The stories are aimed at a more teenage group of readers, rather than the kids who would read other Mauricio de Sousa's works and thus center around teenagers and young adults. However, Mauricio prefers not to mention drugs, topics about sexuality, or other similar subjects, which are very popular among teenagers. Instead, the strips are written with themes related to school or university, dating, problems with parents, etc. Originally the stories recounted the life of Tina and her family living in Salvador, Flip (Toneco) was the original protagonist. The stories changed when Tina joined the hippie culture and started to act alongside Curly (Rolo). In the late of 1970s, Mauricio left the hippie style and started to work with a less particular way of life for them, making the characters become more modern and changing their personalities over the years.
