Giannis Sioutis
Ioannis Sioutis (alternate spelling: Giannis) (; born July 27, 1973) is a Greek retired professional basketball player and current assistant coach, most recently for AEK Athens of the Greek Basket League, under head coach Ilias Kantzouris. He has also previously worked as an assistant for Panathinaikos. At a height of 1.84 m (6 ft ½ in), he played at the point guard position during his active basketball career. Professional career Sioutis started his playing career with the youth team of Milon in 1986. In 1995, he transferred to Aris. In 1997, he won the Korać Cup, and in 1998, he won the Greek Cup, both while playing with Aris. In 1999, he played with Panionios and in 2000, he returned to Aris. In 2002, he won the EuroLeague 2001–02 championship while playing with Panathinaikos. He also played with Irakleio, Peristeri, Ilysiakos, Dafni, and ICBS. Dafnis B.C. is a Greek professional basketball club. The club's full name is Athlitikos Omilos Dafnis B.C., or A.O. Dafnis B.C. The club is located in Dafni, Athens, Greece. The colors of the team are yellow and black, and the team's symbol is the laurel branch. History The athletic organization's parent athletic union, the A.O. A.C. Dafni, was founded in 1939, when the sports club started with a football club. In 1967, the athletic union added the basketball club, A.O. Dafni B.C., as one of its sports sections. Greek National Basketball Team
The Greece men's national basketball team () represents Greece in international basketball. They are controlled by the Hellenic Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Greece. Greece is currently ranked 13th in the FIBA World Ranking. Greece have appeared nine times at the FIBA World Cup, with their best result coming in 2006 as runners-up, after beating the United States 101–95 in the tournament's semi-final. Greece have taken part in the EuroBasket 28 times, winning the tournament twice, while also coming away with one silver (1989), as well as two bronze medals (1949, 2009). Some of the team's highlights at the competition were beating the Soviet Union 103–101 in the final in Athens to win their first title in 1987, and defeating Germany 78–62 in the final in 2005.
