Gianfranco Baruchello
Gianfranco Baruchello (29 August 1924 – 14 January 2023) was an Italian painter, poet, and filmmaker. Born to an elementary school teacher mother and a lawyer father, director of the Livorno Industrial Union, who also taught at the University of Pisa. Following the war, he pursued a degree in law, focusing on economics for his thesis. In 1947, he commenced his professional journey at Bombrini Parodi Delfino. Between 1949 and 1955 he was involved in the creation of the chemical-biological research and production company Società Biomedica. However, in 1959, Baruchello left the company to devote himself to art. Gianfranco Baruchello began his artistic journey in Paris, where he encountered influential figures like Roberto Matta and, later, Alain Jouffroy in 1962, followed by Marcel Duchamp. Galleria Nazionale D'Arte Moderna
The ("National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art"), also known as La Galleria Nazionale, is an art museum in Rome. It was founded in 1883 on the initiative of the then minister Guido Baccelli and is dedicated to modern and contemporary art. History The present building, at 113 Via delle Belle Arti (near the Villa Giulia), was designed by Cesare Bazzani and was built between 1911 and 1915. On the façade are friezes by Ermenegildo Luppi, Adolfo Laurenti and Giovanni Prini, with four figures of Fame holding bronze wreaths sculpted by Adolfo Pantaresi and Albino Candoni. The museum was expanded and doubled in size by Bazzani in 1934. A new building by was inaugurated in 1988, but closed ten years later over safety concerns. Spoleto Festival
The ''Festival dei Due Mondi'' (Festival of the Two Worlds) is an annual summer music and opera festival held each June to early July in Spoleto, Italy, since its founding by composer Gian Carlo Menotti in 1958. It features a vast array of concerts, opera, dance, drama, visual arts and roundtable discussions on science. The "Two Worlds" in the name of the festival comes from Gian Carlo Menotti's intention to have the worlds of American and European culture facing each other in his event; this concept would then be strengthened by the fact that it was held in conjunction with its "twin", the Spoleto Festival USA held annually in May/June in Charleston, South Carolina. That twinning lasted some 15 years and, after growing disputes between the Menotti family and the board of Spoleto Festival USA, in the early 1990s a separation occurred.
