Giancarlo Bigazzi
Giancarlo Bigazzi (5 September 1940 – 19 January 2012) was an Italian music producer and composer. He was a former member of comedy music group Squallor. Life and career Born in Florence, he was one of the best known Italian songwriters and lyricists of the 1970s and 1980s. He wrote some of the most successful Italian pop records, many of which became international hits, such as "Gloria", "Self Control", "No Me Ames", " Tu", " Take the Heat off Me", " Mama". He was also a film score composer; among his soundtracks are ''Mery per sempre'', '' Ragazzi fuori'' and the Oscar-winner '' Mediterraneo''. Bigazzi collaborated for 2 years with singer Mia Martini, writing also her Eurovision track "Rapsodia". Squallor
Squallor (also spelled as Gli Squallor) were an Italian comedy music group, active between 1973 and 1994. Career The group formed in 1973 as a ribald side project of four established musicians: composer and producer Giancarlo Bigazzi, producer Alfredo Cerruti, lyricist Daniele Pace and songwriter Totò Savio. Producer Elio Gariboldi left the band after the first album in 1973. Characterized by adult themes, references to sex, political incorrectness, and vulgarity, in spite of no live activity and radio ostracism, they got an immediate commercial success. In 1984 they wrote and starred in the low budget comedy ''Arrapaho'', loosely inspired by their album with the same name, which was a surprise hit at the box office and achieved some cult status. The group disbanded in 1994, following their last album ''Cambiamento''. 2012 saw the release of ''Gli Squallor'', a documentary about the group. ''Mediterraneo'' is a 1991 Italian war comedy-drama film directed by Gabriele Salvatores and written by Enzo Monteleone. The film is set during World War II and concerns a group of Italian soldiers who become stranded on a Greek island in the Aegean Sea, and are left behind by the war. It won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1992. Plot In 1941, one year after Italy joined Germany against the Allies in World War II, a small group of misfit Italian soldiers is sent to a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea for four months of lookout duty.
