Giacomo Orsini (cardinal)
Giacomo Orsini ( – 15 August 1379), also spelled Jacopo Orsini (), was a Roman prelate, the cardinal deacon of San Giorgio in Velabro from 1371 until his death shortly after the start of the Western Schism. Early life and education A member of the Orsini family, Giacomo was born around 1350. His mother was Isabella Savelli. His father, Orso Orsini, count of Tagliacozzo and lord of Vicovaro, died in 1360. His brother Rinaldo became count of Tagliacozzo. His uncle, Cardinal Rinaldo Orsini, played a role in Giacomo's upbringing. Pope Urban V gave the young Orsini a canonry in the diocese of Padua in November 1362 and in 1367 appointed him a protonotary apostolic. Orsini studied canon law at the University of Bologna. He was examined by Giovanni da Legnano and Uguccione da Thiene on 24 May 1371. On 30 May, Pope Gregory XI named him cardinal deacon of San Giorgio in Velabro. Giacomo Orsini, Count Of Tagliacozzo
Giacomo Orsini ( – 1431) was an Italian nobleman and ''condottiero'' of the Orsini family. He was the count of Tagliacozzo from 1394 until his death, sometimes loyal to the Kingdom of Naples, other times to the Papal State. Orsini was born shortly before 1380 to Giovanni Orsini and Nicoletta Orsini, the daughter of Gentile Orsini, count of Sovana. His father died on 31 August 1390, shortly after his uncle, Rinaldo Orsini. He was too young to maintain his father and uncle's control over Orvieto, Spoleto and L'Aquila. On 1 April 1391, he signed an accord with Pope Boniface IX by which he agreed to hand over the in Spoleto in exchange for the in Tivoli, of which he took possession on 21 May. Jacopo Orsini, Lord Of Monterotondo
Jacopo Orsini (1424–1482) was an Italian nobleman of the Orsini family. Life The son of Orso Orsini and Lucrezia Conti, Jacopo succeeded his father as lord of Monterotondo. In 1431, he received the castle of Calvi on behalf of the Papal State. In 1433, on the orders of Pope Eugene IV, he sent a hundred troops to Orte to defend it against Niccolò Fortebraccio.
