Gia Ionesco
Gia Ionesco is a Romanian-born keyboardist, composer, and bandleader, known for his contributions to the genres of jazz, avant-garde, jazz fusion, progressive rock, and third stream music. Early life and education Gia Ionesco was born in Bucharest, Romania. He comes from a family of distinguished scientists: his father, a Ph.D. member of the Romanian Academy of Sciences, and his mother, a nuclear physicist. His high school band, Pegasus, participated in major Romanian jazz and rock festivals. Later, his involvement with the group Om led to collaborations with well-known Romanian musicians and participation in diverse musical projects, including movie music and a rock opera. He attended the Graphic Arts & Music School No. 3, Berzei, in Bucharest, from 1972 to 1976, where he studied both music and graphic arts. Keyboardist
A keyboardist or keyboard player is a musician who plays keyboard instruments. Until the early 1960s musicians who played keyboards were generally classified as either pianists or organists. Since the mid-1960s, a plethora of new musical instruments with keyboards have come into common usage, such as synthesizers and digital piano, requiring a more general term for a person who plays them. In the 2010s, professional keyboardists in popular music often play a variety of different keyboard instruments, including piano, tonewheel organ, synthesizer, and clavinet. In music, an arrangement is a musical adaptation of an existing composition. Differences from the original composition may include reharmonization, melodic paraphrasing, orchestration, or formal development. Arranging differs from orchestration in that the latter process is limited to the assignment of notes to instruments for performance by an orchestra, concert band, or other musical ensemble. Palais Royale
Palais Royale is a dance hall in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, located on Lake Shore Boulevard at the foot of Roncesvalles Avenue on Lake Ontario. Originally built as a boat works, it became notable as a night club in the now-defunct Sunnyside Amusement Park, hosting many prominent 'big band' jazz bands. Since the Park's demolition, the building has ceased to be a nightclub, being used for special occasions and concerts. It has recently been remodeled and is in use for special occasions and meetings. Adam Baruch (; April 9, 1945 – May 24, 2008) was an Israeli journalist, newspaper editor, writer and art critic. Biography Baruch Meir Rosenblum (later Adam Baruch) was born in the Meah Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem, Israel. His father, Asher Rosenblum, was a lawyer, art dealer and active politically in Hapoel HaMizrachi. His maternal grandfather was Rabbi Yitzchak Yaakov Wachtfogel, head of the Mea Shearim Yeshiva and Av Beit Din for the Ashkenazi communities. He was raised in Ramat Gan, completed his high school education at the Noam Yeshiva High School in Pardes Hannah and later for a short time in Hebron Yeshiva, and studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His first wife was the photographer Ariella Shvide, with whom he had two children: Ido Rosenblum, a screenwriter and TV personality, and Amalia Rosenblum, a writer. Asaf Sirkis (; born 1969) is an Israeli jazz drummer, composer and educator. He is a member of the jazz rock band Soft Machine. Early life Sirkis spent his teens and early twenties in Rehovot, Israel where he began drum lessons aged 12. His early musical influences were The Beatles, The Police, Yes (band), Yes, Allan Holdsworth, Weather Report, classical music, Arabic, Balkan, Klezmer, Pop, and Israeli folk music. In 1990, shortly after he completed his three-year national service he started his full-time professional career working as an all-around drummer in Israel.
