Ghosteen
''Ghosteen'' is the seventeenth studio album by the Australian rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. It was released on 4 October 2019 on Ghosteen Ltd and on 8 November 2019 on Bad Seed Ltd, both the band's own imprints. ''Ghosteen'' is a double album—the band's first since ''Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus'' (2004)—and the final part of a trilogy of albums that includes ''Push the Sky Away'' (2013) and '' Skeleton Tree'' (2016). Produced by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, ''Ghosteen'' was written in the aftermath of the death of Cave's son Arthur in 2015. It was recorded primarily in Malibu and West Hollywood, California in the United States, with further sessions in Germany and England. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are an Australian rock band formed in 1983 by vocalist Nick Cave, multi-instrumentalist Mick Harvey and guitarist-vocalist Blixa Bargeld. The band has featured international personnel throughout its career and presently consists of Cave, violinist and multi-instrumentalist Warren Ellis, bassist Martyn P. ''B-Sides & Rarities Part II'' is a compilation by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, released on 22 October 2021. It is the sequel to the band's 2005 compilation '' B-Sides & Rarities'' and features 13 years of the band's B-sides and previously unreleased tracks spanning the years 2006-2019. Content The collection features the original versions of the songs "Skeleton Tree" and "Girl in Amber" from the album ''Skeleton Tree'' as well as "Bright Horses" and "Waiting for You" from ''Ghosteen'' before they were re-written and re-recorded in their final album versions. Warren Ellis (musician)
Warren Ellis (born 14 February 1965) is an Australian musician and composer. He is a member of the rock groups Dirty Three and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. He also performed with the band Grinderman until its disbandment in 2013. He has also composed film scores with long-time friend, collaborator and band-mate Nick Cave. Ellis plays the violin, piano, accordion, bouzouki, guitar, flute, mandolin, mandocello and viola. He has been a member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds since 1994. Life and career Ellis was born in Ballarat, Victoria. He has said that he came to music by accident: while playing at the local tip, he found an abandoned piano accordion. ''Skeleton Tree'' is the sixteenth studio album by Australian rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. It was released on 9 September 2016 on Bad Seed Ltd. A follow-up to the band's critically acclaimed album ''Push the Sky Away'' (2013), ''Skeleton Tree'' was recorded over 18 months at Retreat Recording Studios in Brighton, La Frette Studios in La Frette-sur-Seine and Air Studios in London.
