Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider is the name of multiple superheroes or antiheroes appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Marvel had previously used the name for a Western character whose name was later changed to Phantom Rider. The first supernatural Ghost Rider is stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze, who agrees to give his soul to "Satan" (later revealed to be an arch-demon named Mephisto) to save the life of his foster father. At night and when around evil, Blaze finds his flesh consumed by hellfire, causing his head to become a flaming skull. He rides a fiery motorcycle and wields blasts of hellfire from his body, usually from his hands. He eventually learns he has been bonded with the demon Zarathos. Blaze is featured in the series '' Ghost Rider'' (vol. 2) from 1972 to 1983. The subsequent ''Ghost Rider'' series (1990–1998) features Danny Ketch as a new Ghost Rider. After his sister was injured by gangsters, Ketch comes in contact with a motorcycle that contains the ...

The Carolina Ghostriders were an indoor football team and charter member of the American Indoor Football League. History Formed in 2005, they were originally named the Carolina Sharks and played their home games at the Cricket Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina. However, the Sharks folded and were replaced by a traveling team, the AIFL Ghostchasers. The Ghostchasers were often called the "Greensboro Ghostriders" because they were based in Greensboro, North Carolina, although this was never an official name. They were later renamed the Carolina Ghostriders. The team did very poorly, compiling an 0-10 record in the regular season. Because the league only had six teams, however, every team made the playoffs. In the 2005 playoffs they lost to the Johnstown Riverhawks in the opening round. On December 28, 2005 the AIFL announced that the team would play in Asheville at the Asheville Civic Center. At the beginning of the 2006 season, the team was bought up by Robert W. Boyd from ...

A Cowboy Legend
"(Ghost) Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend" is a cowboy-styled country/western song written in 1948 by American songwriter Stan Jones. A number of versions were crossover hits on the pop charts in 1949, the most successful being by Vaughn Monroe. Members of the Western Writers of America chose it as the greatest western song of all time. Overview The song tells a folk tale of a cowboy who has a vision of red-eyed, steel-hooved cattle thundering across the sky, being chased by the spirits of damned cowboys. One warns him that if he does not change his ways, he will be doomed to join them, forever "trying to catch the Devil's herd across these endless skies". The story has been linked with old European myths of the Wild Hunt and the Dutch/Flemish legend of the Buckriders, in which a supernatural group of hunters passes the narrator in wild pursuit. Stan Jones stated that he had been told the story when he was 12 years old by an old Native American who resided north-east ...
