Ghetonia
Ghetonia (Griko: Γειτονία, ''neighborhood'') is a cultural group based in Calimera, Grecìa Salentina in southern Italy, which exists to preserve the music, poetry, language and folklore of the Griko-speaking people of Salento by documenting the various aspects of the Grecìa Salentina traditional life, history, language and folklore, and has published extensively on these subjects. However, Ghetonia is best known for its musical group whose members include Roberto Licci, Emilia Ottaviano, Salvatore Cotardo, Emmanuelle Licci, Angelo Urso and Franco Nuzzo. Griko Language
Griko (endonym: /), sometimes spelled Grico, is one of the two dialects of Italiot Greek (the other being Calabrian Greek or ), spoken by Griko people in Salento, province of Lecce, Italy. Some Greek linguists consider it to be a Modern Greek dialect and often call it () or (). Griko and Standard Modern Greek are partially mutually intelligible. Classification The most popular hypothesis on the origin of Griko is the one by Gerhard Rohlfs and Georgios Hatzidakis, that Griko's roots go as far back in history as the time of the ancient Greek colonies in Southern Italy and Sicily in the eighth century BC. The Southern Italian dialect is thus considered to be the last living trace of the Greek elements that once formed Magna Graecia. Calimera
Calimera (Griko: lit. "good morning"), is a small town of 6,753 inhabitants (2021) in the Grecìa Salentina area of the Salento peninsula in Italy, located between Gallipoli and Otranto. It belongs to the province of Lecce. The inhabitants of Calimera, alongside Italian, also speak Griko, a Greek dialect. The language, folklore, traditions and history of Calimera, like those of the eight other cities in the area called "Salentine Greece", reveal significant Greek influences over the course of time, presumably from the time of the Byzantine control, or even the ancient Magna Graecia colonisation in the 8th century BCE. In the park, there is a small monument containing an ancient Attic burial stone, given by the city of Athens to Calimera in 1960. Aramirè
Aramirè is music group from Salento, Italy, specializing in various forms of local traditional music: * The '' pizzica'' version of the Tarantella, * songs of the Grecìa Salentina region, * traditional love songs, * and polyphonic songs of love and labour. The group was formed in 1996 by members of the defunct group Canzoniere di Terra d'Otranto, who in the late 1950s began studying and restoring local traditional music. Of the three founders, Luigi Chiriatti, Roberto Raheli and Sandro Girasoli, only Raheli remains in 2004, as a result of a divergence on the commercial drift of folk music.
