Gheorghe Ion
Gheorghe Ion (born 27 July 1960) is a Romanian former rugby union international active in the 1980s and 1990s. He is the father of rugby player Adrian Ion. Ion, a hooker, was known by the nickname "Tarzan". He started playing rugby union at Bucharest School Sports Club and had a long association with CS Dinamo București. Internationally, Ion featured in 38 Test matches, which included a stint as captain. He scored Romania's only try in a famous win over Wales at Cardiff Arms Park in 1988. In 1991 he represented Romania at the Rugby World Cup, playing all three matches. Adrian Ion (born 9 August 1986) is a Romanian rugby union footballer. He plays the position of flanker. His father Gheorghe nicknamed ''Tarzan'' was also a professional rugby player. CS Dinamo București is a professional Romanian rugby union club from Bucharest, which plays in the Liga Națională de Rugby, the first division of Romanian rugby. They are the second most successful rugby union team in Romania with 16 championship titles, 12 cup titles and even a Champions League title to their name. 1991 Rugby World Cup
The 1991 Rugby World Cup was the second edition of the Rugby World Cup, and was jointly hosted by England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and France: at the time, the five European countries who participated in the Five Nations Championship. This was the first Rugby World Cup to be staged in the northern hemisphere, with England the hosts of the final. Also for the first time, qualifying competitions were introduced as the number of entrants had increased from 16 nations four years before to a total of 33 countries. The eight quarter-finalists from 1987 qualified automatically with the remaining eight spots contested through qualifiers by 25 countries. This resulted in only one new side qualifying for the tournament, Western Samoa replacing Tonga. The same 16-team pool/knock-out format was used with just minor changes to the points system. The ''Coventry Telegraph'' is a local English tabloid newspaper. It was founded as ''The Midland Daily Telegraph'' in 1891 by William Isaac Iliffe, and was Coventry's first daily newspaper. Sold for half a penny, it was a four-page broadsheet newspaper. It changed its name to the ''Coventry Evening Telegraph'' on 17 November 1941. On 2 October 2006, the ''Telegraph'' simply became the ''Coventry Telegraph'', reflecting its switch to a morning publication. The newspaper became a part of the then Mirror Group (prior to its merger with Trinity to become Trinity Mirror), in 1997. In April 2022, the publication had a paid daily circulation of just over 6,183 copies. Trinity Mirror is now known as Reach plc.
