Vaughan Gething
Humphrey Vaughan ap David Gething (born 15 March 1974) is a Welsh Labour Co-op politician who served as First Minister of Wales from March to August 2024, and served as leader of Welsh Labour from March to July 2024, making him the first black leader of any European country. He has been the Member of the Senedd (MS) for Cardiff South and Penarth since 2011. Gething was born in Zambia to a Welsh father and Zambian mother. He moved to Britain as a child and studied law at Aberystwyth University and Cardiff Law School, at the University of Cardiff. He trained as a solicitor with Cardiff-based firm Thompsons and subsequently specialised in employment law. Gething joined the Labour Party when he was 17 and contested Mid and West Wales for Labour in the inaugural elections to the National Assembly for Wales in 1999. Amelia Gething (born 24 January 1999) is an English actress and writer. She began her career as a content-creator and wrote the BBC show ''The Amelia Gething Complex'' (2019–2021). Gething Formation
Gething Formation is a stratigraphic unit of Lower Cretaceous (Aptian) age in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. It is present in northeastern British Columbia and western Alberta, and includes economically important coal deposits. The formation is named for Gething Creek, a right tributary of the Peace River west of Hudson's Hope, and the nearby Gething Mountain. It was first described by F.H. Richard Gething
Richard Gething () was an English calligrapher. Life Gething was born in Herefordshire. He was a scholar of John Davies of Hereford, the famous writing-master of Hereford, and was thought to surpass his master in every branch of his art. Coming to London, he started in business at the ''Hand and Pen'' in Fetter Lane. In 1616 he published ''A Coppie Book of the Usuall Hands Written''. An enlarged edition, entitled ''Calligraphotechnica'', was published in 1619: it had twenty-six engraved quarto plates and a frontispiece portrait of Gething, and was dedicated to Sir Francis Bacon. In 1645 he published ''Chirographia'', consisting of thirty-seven plates engraved by John Goddard. In it Gething says "he has exactly traced and followed certain pieces, both in character and language, of the ablest calligraphotechnists and Italian masters that ever wrote, with certain pieces of cursory hands, not heretofore extant, newly come in use." Glyn Gething
Glyn Ivor Gething (16 June 1892 – 20 March 1977) was a Welsh international rugby union full back who played club rugby for Skewen and Neath and international rugby for Wales. He was a bank clerk by profession. Rugby history Gething first came to note as a rugby player when he represented Skewen RFC. Gething Caulton
Sydney Gething Caulton (1895 – 23 August 1976) was a British bishop who spent much of his career in New Zealand and the South Pacific. A graduate of St Chad's College, Durham University, where he gained his M.A., Caulton was made a deacon in Liverpool in 1922 and ordained priest there the next year, and remained there until 1930 when he became a missionary in the Diocese of Melanesia. He arrived in New Zealand in 1937, with his wife and son, to become Vicar of Whakatāne, and then Vicar of St Peter's, Onehunga. He was inducted Vicar of St Mary's, and installed (''ex officio'') as Dean of Auckland in February 1946. On 2 February 1948, he was consecrated a bishop by Cecil Cherrington, Bishop of Waikato, at St Mary's, and based himself in the New Hebrides (now Vanuatu).
